D16A9 Tranny L3 question

Default D16A9 Tranny L3 question

Hi guys
i have a crx 1.6 16V ED9 type with engine D16A9 dohc non vtec , i think this engine in USA is the ZC but not sure,my car is from 89 June.
i wont now buy a better clucth anf flywheel, my tranny is L3, somebody can help me concerning the splines number and clucth dimensions ?
where i live, honda portugal can not help me.

Hi there. Yes it is the dualcam ZC.

As for the flywheel/clutch I think it will fit any that is for a D engine..

Is this right H-T people?

i think depending of thje years the clutches size and splines number are different, but not sure,

It depends on the year of your transmission. '88 L3 transmissions had a 21-spline input shaft, while '89-91 L3 transmissions had a 20-spline input shaft - at least, this is true for cars in the US. You need the clutch that matches the year of your transmission.

Since your car was built in June '89, you should have the 20-spline input shaft (provided that the transmission is original).

Regarding clutch diameter, '88-89 clutch discs were 200mm in diameter, while '90-91 clutch discs were 212mm in diameter. You can use a '90-91 clutch on an '89 car, but you must use the '90-91 flywheel along with it.
