odb1 d16z6 crx ECU/wiring/CEL issues
Hi, I just swapped a d16z6 in to replace a busted-*** y8 a month ago. The y8 was running odb1 with a chipped p28 ECU. The chip (supposedly) was a y8 stock fuel map, disabling a few sensors, and enabling the use of a 1 wire o2 sensor.
When I did the swap, I had a few minor issues, but never saw a CEL come on. I found out just recently that this was because there was no CEL bulb in my cluster! After replacing the bulb, I have a constant CEL. When I jump the blue service connector, nothing changes. The CEL stays solid, never blinking.
I have found in searches that this is supposed to mean that my ECU/Chip is bad. I'd like to check this out, but I know that if I was to swap in a virgin p28 ECU, the car probably wouldn't run right. This is because of the 1 wire o2 sensor and the lack of a knock sensor and some other goodies.
Right now, the car runs reliably but has a surging idle, only gets 20mpg, and I have no Vtec.
Would getting a new chip or a new socketed ECU for the chip I have be a good idea? If not, what should I do to fix my mpg and get rid of the CEL?

ok, so you agree that the ECU is probably bad? Then the car should run good, with decent mileage, if i swap out ECU's? I thought the 1 wire o2 on a non-chipped p28 would cause me to have worse mileage than I already have.

ok, now i'm looking for a virgin p28 to put in this car. think it should help my mileage?
thanks for your help.
