Default B18C5 Found a Worthy Home? Pics inside:

Sorry this is sort of a double post, but I can't help but notice all the hybrid bashing around this part of H-T.

First of all I'd like to say that I have many friends with ITRs, and while I love them to death I simply cannot afford one.

I did the next best thing IMO and put an ITR swap into my hatchback.

Here's some random pics:

Rest of pics and full story here:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=186832

ANYWAYS:

So I see all of this sterotyping about "Hooking up the ricemobile hatchback with stolen R motors..." etc. and I get tired of it.

I have the title to the ITR that I purchased from the original owner. He was rear-ended and the insurance co. gave him a fat check and let him keep the car. I purchased the whole car for $4,000.00 cash.

I am one of the many examples of totally legit B18C5-powered hatches out there.

For you guys trying to taint my name and others by saying crap like this:

"How many times do you see names like B18C5-EG and B18C5-EH here on H-T? This theft crap is outta hand!"

UP YOURS.

Thieves SUCK. Hybrids with stolen motors suck too, and any time I even hear of a shady deal I don't even consider it.

The sad truth in this is that there are people out there who will KILL for the crap we have, and too bad for us honest guys.

Don't you think that I worry about theft even more so than you guys?

I have the same motor and tons of mods on a car with a book value of $2,200.00 at best. It attracts a ton of attention being a silver 1992 too.

Try getting "street value" from State Fram if it ever gets stolen.

All I'm saying is could you guys who bash us hybrid guys please give it a rest?

All the "RiceBoy hatch" talk pisses me off a little.

I think that my car is a shining example of how a totally legit B18C5 swap into a worthy car can be accomplished, and if you guys would like I'll even post up the title for that 1998 Type R.

Again, the hybrid bashing could stop sometime soon.

Just wondering. So the wrecked-ITR owner got a check from the insurance co. and then bought back the ITR, then sold it to you, right?

Anyways, what does your hatchback run 1/4?

Yes, he must have pocketed pretty good from the insurance co AFTER the buyback because that + my $4,000.00 = S2000 brand new.\

I have yet to time this hatch in the 1/4 mile because I just finished it yesterday after 7 months of hard work and lots of $$$$.

The same swap did run a 13.9@100.7,ph in my old tugboat 1992 Si hatchback.

The silver one seen above weighs roughly 300lbs. LESS and I've added an ATS 4.929 FD since my 13.9 run over 1/2 a year ago.

ATS kicks ***

exactly, i tried saying this before.. but they still categorize 99% of hybrid civics as THEIFS or people with STOLEN motors. "lets just through out the 'HARD WORK' option right out of the window." yet they are quick to jump on the nuts of ff-squad.
but whatever makes you feel better..

hard working hybrids
ITR owners who cant get their heads out there asses
ITR owners who can appreciate a hybrid or nice car even if it's not as good as an ITR

Well, it's just that there are some guys that are so extreme about it that they even say that if you don't see the motor being pulled then you should always worry about the origin of the motor.

How about I pulled the motor out of the Type R myself?

And besides that, there are reputable yards that sell 100% legit swaps, like Import Auto Salvage and the like. A copy of a title is good enough for me in terms of paperwork.

Here's the thing that I think bothers me the most:

I spent SEVEN long months without a car whiule building this one. SEVEN months! Not only did it cost me the time, but every bit of my income after bills went towards the build-up of this car. I'd say that in some regards I've worked harder than a lot of ITR guys do for their cars, so to make broad generalizations about us hybrids guys makes me mad.

I built this car from a bare shell with the help and support from friends - there are actually people into this Honda crap that are supportive (not haters in other words) that are honest and good people.

I just hope that maybe the next time Joe ITR Owner gets hot about another stolen R that he at least thinks of my car before he types "Hybrids suck and those B18C5 EG and EH guys are to blame."

B18C5-EH2, I agree man. I'm sure there are many legitimate swaps out there, and many "shady" stolen motors going into swaps. Congrats on you finishing your hatch. That is a very, very, sweet car. I think those 7 months without a car were well worth the wait. If I were you, I would not let too many people know what motor you have. And tell your close friends not to tell other people they know. Good luck and keep her safe..

Here's a situation to consider:

What if someone bought I motor but didn't know it was hot until everything was said and done? What then? Does he turn in his motor with the guy he got it from's contact information to officials? If he does, he has no motor, no money...what to do?

You are by far the BEST troll ever. You constantly contradict yourself... First you cant open your hood, then you know the exact location of a VIN number and now you know how much a G3 ITR weights...
