Default What size 13" tires for H stock autox?

I am going to use VX wheels on my 91 Civic DX HB. What size tires would be best for performance tire options and general performance ability?

Thanks
Aaron

Any suggestions on tires would be great too. I want as close to R compound as I can get without breaking that rule. I can't find any tires worth a darn.

Oh crap. Nevermind. I just re-read the rule book. R compounds are ok in stock class. Any recommendations?

I am thinking Toyo Proxes RA-1 in 185/60R13

For autocross use, you might be better off with an R compound tire designed specifically for autocross (like the Hoosier A6, although the A6 doesn't come in that size). Most R comps are designed for racetrack use. The difference is that racetrack tires generally need to be warmed up a lap or two (remember, racetrack laps, i.e. a couple of miles at high speeds) to be most effective, whereas autocross tires have softer compounds that don't require a lot of warmup.

Incidentally, you don't mention how much autocross experience you have. If you don't have a lot of experience, then you may as well use your regular street tires, even if they're not all that great. Your first bunch of events, you will be learning and building up experience, and you won't be using all the capabilities of your tires anyway. Furthermore, it's more difficult to learn on R compounds, because they don't give you warning before breaking loose. If you've got a lot of autocross experience, by all means go for the R comps, but otherwise, don't waste your money.
