Default NOOB Question: How to install new shift ****

Ok, embarassing to ask, but just got a new skunk2 weighted shift ***. Don't know how to take the other one off, so before i do something stupid, i thought i'd ask. I have a 2006 EX coupe (not automatic! haha). Theres the shift ***, then that other "piece" thats connected to the "leather" of the whole stick so... ummm help? Much thanks, and I guess stupidity/noobi'ness is fixed one question at a time.

that plastic grey round thing just snaps off of the ****.

to take off the ****, just twist. it will remove itself from the plastic piece.

to get the plastic grey piece off you need to get inside the boot

Thanks for the info, it was really helpful. Have a new question though. Now that I have the new shift **** + nut installed, how do i make the leather boot stay up/attached. The old shift **** had a plastic clip on the **** that attached to the stock ring/clip which was attached to the shift boot. Now that I took that plastic clip/ring off, nothing keeps the boot up to the new ****. Was I supposed to keep the stock clip/ring thing on?

that parts a lil tricky. your going to have to get creative. with mine, i used the **** with out the nut bottom piece.

you see how my **** looks like, how it has that lil ring around the bottom of the ****

(disregard the plastic ring, i havnt removed it yet at the time)

i used that bottom part of the **** to ziptie the top of the shift boot to.

the boot is secure to my **** and very rarely comes off, and when it does, i just slip it back up on there
