I have an eg with ls/vtec and Im swapping it out for a poor mans type r. I was wondering if it is a good swap for a stock motor. And what tranny I should use???

they just recently did a write up in Honda Tuning doing this I think you can read it online from their site or go to http://www.RSmachines.net the company that did all the work.

Definitely time to buy a new block and build a reliable lsvtec. Here is a link for a write up that I just saw someone post in a question about lsvtec vs crvtec.https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1676914

I've heard that a poor mans type r should cost around about 1k for a stock rebuild including labor but thats if you already have a head to go along with it. If you can find a GSR block for about 4-600 with stock parts in good condition and labor should be the rest of the price.

ya. an ls/vtec can pretty much be the same as poor mans type r. just needs pistons and a few other things.

Its more than that for a complete rebuild. I know from experience d0000d

Pistons, rings, bearings, assembly, polish the crank and hone my GSR block costed $800. not including little **** like water pump, oil pump, timing belt, seals, gaskets and whatnot

Ls/vtec isn't the same as a poor mans type r. Two different blocks
