Default turbo setup - suggestions?

ok, so.. my rings are pretty much gone as im pouring in 1 litre of oil per 1000 kms ..

time to rebuild the engine. i have the H22A on a '95 prelude.

than.. it hit me.. why not run a turbo ? im rebuilding the engine anyway..

problem is.. i dont know much about putting in a turbo. i know the "basics" i should say.. as i've been reading up on it.

im on a tight budget.. since im doing a lot of other stuff to the car.

whats the most cost effective way of putting in a low boost turbo? im thinking around 6-9 psi tops...

this means.. no piston work ... no resleeving.. just running a simple low boost turbo on stock "rebuilt" engine.

can anyone give suggestions on what i should get and where i can get it from?
and how much those usually run for as well.

looked into some ebay stuff (just checking.. ) .. and i see kits from $400 to $800. asked a friend.. and he said those have imitation BOV and wastegaskets which will probably kill my engine / turbo down the road.

Whats your definition of "rebuilt"?

Just rebuild your engine and not go turbo if you don't want to do research yourself.. These boards so many threads on boosting you don't even know.

The famous, always recommended FI page. As for boost on a stock H22, 6-9psi is good. To do 9psi, however, you'll need a pretty darn good tune.

If your pistons are indeed gone it means your gonna have to hone the motor before you can put in new pistons/rings. And since i wouldn't re-use the old pistons i would just go ahead and sleeve it and put in forged pistons. Its only gonna cost you a bit more than the work your gonna have to do anyways with the honing and new pistons. Then not only would you have the bottom end rebuilt, it will be able to handle way more boost than 9psi, not saying you need to run that. Then get your self a rev-hard or greddy kit and modify a few things to make it fit get your self a hondata and your good to go see the dyno. That will be an affordable and yet very reliable "turbo rebuild".

Stay away from ebay turbo kits too .
