Future B-Series or K-Series Swap.
In the spring of 08 my plans are to install a k-series or b-series swap to add more power and make the life of my car longer by having a newer engine. Right now I have an 95 honda civic coupe dx 5 spd and it sit at 95,000 miles. I just have a few question for you guys that I can start my one year research with....
1. Do you paint the car 1st before an swap or is it better to do it after?
2. Since the K-Series enignes are newer(more money) they will have lower miles, what kind of milage can I expect on a B-series swap (B18C5 Type-R)?
3. Beyond getting a full 4 disc brake set up for the added power, what are some other things I need to get done to this car to get it ready for the power?
4. Which one of these can handle a turbo better? I want to hit 250 HP with either swap?
I thank you guys for any help you send this way because Im going to need it all on the travel to make sure I make all the right moves....

1. do what you can afford
2. expect 50K+miles
3. do your suspension
4. a b series can do 250whp easy with a small turbo. a k series can do 250whp staying na with internals.

1. why do you want to repaint the engine. well if you do, the best time will be when the swap is out
2. depends, but if you want a usdm one b18c5, then its probably going to be on the higher end, but i would suggest getting a jdm one (more power, less miles)
3. bigger capliers/brakes. better suspension
4. if all you want is 250 then i would stay with a sohc turbo (cheaper then a bseries). but if you really want either a k or a b, then i would say both are easy to get to 250whp turbo. but theres more potential with a k

Yeah but that's on the BIG assumption you're going to hmotorsonline to get your ******* reamed out.
The majority of people who swap in a GSR like that will buy from a private party - not online.

USDM one is fine

Get the B-Series...more affordable (sounds like you're on a budget)
While the motor is out, go ahead and toss a set of forged pistons/rods in the bottom end so that when you DO boost it...the bottom-end can take it

1. What is your budget?
You can just repaint the exterior of the car, or you can gut the car, new glass, new paint, fix rust, the works...
2. What is your budget?
I've done my research on Ks and they can cost -in total- 8-10grand.. and that is just to swap it in, and have it running.
3. What is your budget?
A simple yet cost effective brake upgrade is better rotors, pads, and SS Braided lines, and new brake fluid.
Replace your bushings, new dampers and a nice set of springs for your needs..
4. If you just want to extend and increase power, rebuild your D and boost it. It will last a long time, and cost a lot less.
Search the forums for what you want to do, read, learn.
