Default GT35R-2.5 discharge VS 3"discharge

When buying mine, i read that there was minmal differences between the 2.If anyone knows for sure, i would like to hear.

The only differnece is that the 3inch just tapers from 2.5 to 3, so i cant see it being a big deal.

sorry, i don't have an answer to your question...but if you are taking measurements of it, what is the total width of the compressor housing(the dimension with the remote in the picture, like if you took out the remote and put the tape measure in its place)??

Thanks..

the difference is in the housing one is GT dischrage from garrett which is 4 bolt 3" discharge vs precision turbo which is 4 bolt 2.5" dischrage.

Precsion uses the same center just with there housings.

im talking about power and spool differences.

I relize they are 2 different sizes, hence the question im asking.
If anyone knows the Power and Spool diffs, then i would like to know.

I dont think Precision would goto a 2.5 if it affected the power output alot.

its farily neglegible the reason precision does it is to build cheaper item for the consumer.

ok i'll take a stab at it if you'll help me with my question....since the exducer is 2.5" an outlet size on the turbine of 2.5" is appropriate...and is not restrictive. the taper to 3" is just to allow a low turbulent transition from 2.5" to 3" .

I would like to agree with that statement that is cheaper to the consumer, but its really not, i called precision while back, and got quoted 1500 bucks for a 35r, so i just ended paying 1510 to atpturbo.com, for a 35r with a 3inch vband for the turbine outlet, AND a polished housing. and the casting from garrett is a lot nicer in my opinion too..

ive had precision turbos in the past, so its not like im talking down on them, but truthfully i wasnt happy with the comperssor side casting, when i hand polished it. it was very porous.

I dont think its for power, im not going to run a 2.5" DP with a 35r and i dont know who would.. It would be eaiser to buy the garrett hosuing thats 3" so making a 3" Dp is that much easier.. Heres my 35R exhaust hosuing

This is my 2nd 35r, my first 35r had the 3" 4 bolt... I didn't like it cause i wanted vband....

to the op, i would go with GT3582r with a 3 inch out vband, dont limit yourself with a 2.5 inch out or a 4 bolt discharge.. its a pain in the rear in the long run..

i bought the 4 bolt discharge, but bought the adapter to run Vband 3inch... Same thing, but i got a smokin deal on the 4bolt GT35R instead of paying an extra 100$ approx for the vband discharge

what kind of numbers are you looking for???nobody's going to do a dyno comparison, thats stupid...if you were to get a 3" vband adapter for the 2.5" it would be the same as a straight 3" vband.

prices have come down a lot in the last year. precisions prices on the 35r are not helping the customers out at all. a straight garrett can be had much cheaper now. i got my 35r from precision a year ago specifically with the garrett hot side for the 3" outlet. it just makes sense.

I think your confused. Both are 2.5" discharge from the turbine wheel, just the one with the GT style housing "cones" to 3". You can do the same with the 2.5" in the downpipe. You can see a good pics of the GT housing in Quickgti1.8t's pics.

There's enough 'meat' on the 2.5" flange to get away with cutting a 2.5-3" flare in half, and essentially running ~2.75" to 3", and a full 3" DP. THe diff with the housing is its cast in. Regardless, the turbine wheel doesn't change, and that's what matters the most.

Those are some answers i was looking for, im getting ready to sell and some people think that the differnce between the 2 makes a signifigant difference, and it doesnt.

The Garret just "cones" to 3inch, and the wheel size IS most important.

I just needed other peoples opinion.

Its the same thing man. Are you going to run a 3" DP? I'll assume - yes. The GT just expands the 2.5 -> 3". and the other is just 2.5" where you would expand it to 2.5" -> 3" for your downpipe anyways. That part is just built into the GT housing. It doesnt make a difference.
