We have a civic here at work we were using as a demo car for audio setups that we are getting rid of. Motor is shot, cyls 1 and 4 the exhaust ports are as oil covered as paris hilton is covered with... well I won't go there.
I'm assuming the bolt patterns for the tranny are the same between the two? I haven't had a chance to really get down and look since I don't have a jack or stands here at work. The other issue I figured would come up is the pre-92's were a cable clutch, as opposed to 92-95 being hydraulic? I'm a 97-up prelude guy myself and haven't wrenched on older civics until I obtained this 91 off my friend. The 4 speed just doesn't cut it with the hills and mountains around here, with that whoping 70 hp and all.
Any info you guys could pass along before the weather gets nice enough to start ripping the cars apart would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Whats up? Any D series tranny will bolt up to any D series motor. The only crap part you will run into is the 92-95 tranny is hydraulic. you can buy the conversion kit from Hasport any really anyplace that sells mounts. There are a few writeups lingering around. Good luck! 4 speed FLT
it would just be cheaper to sell the hydraulic 5 speed and buy a 5 speed that is cable. I believe all DX and Si models 88-91 have 5 speeds. The Standards came with the lame *** 4 speed. You can usually find decent trannies on Ebay or I'm sure you can get one at a local junk yard.
It would be cheaper and easier to get a cable tranny than getting Hasport's conversion kit. But RJR162 is right any D series tranny will bolt up to any d series block. (not sure about the 7th gens though 01-05)
If you need more help just ask.
good luck.
