Is it possible to remove and replace the release fork without removing the tranny? I thought I had a problem with my slave cylinder and replaced that but after looking closer I realized the release fork is just wobbling around inside the tranny. I am thinking about pulling the radiator to make room so I can get a closer look at what exactly the problem is and see if I can set it back into place, but am not sure if I will just be wasting my time and delaying the inevitable of removing the tranny.

there's a spring that holds it onto the "ball" once it's preloaded with pressure from the hydraulic system it should line up in place.
I doubt theres a way do this w/o removing the trans.

You might have what I ran into. The pivot "Ball" broke and I couldn't shift into gears. I did the same, got a new slave and while replacing it I was able to pull the fork right out of the clutch housing.
Bense is right. your probably going to have to remove the trans.
Good luck on your repair.
