Mini-Me vs ZC
honda's are not powerhouses(OEM)....with exceptions H-K series which run $$$$....so in my lil delimma im needing to run with what Iv'e got...Question is simply this: A built Sohc(cam + pully, forged pistons, forged rods) OR built ZC (Cam'S + pully'S, Forged pistons, forged rods)....Both are running 10-13LBS. on a T3 GT-10 with metal headgaskets....with expericend owners what is (or was) the best decision for the Dseries gurus....
Not being technical on this answer:
the single slam has more options since it saw higher production numbers and had more aftermarket support (here in the US) than the dohc zc. Sohc interchangability between obd 0,1,2 platforms is a plus. Mini-me ect. Simplicity.
The dohc zc imho makes a great high rev machine with the right cams, head, valvetrain, & itbs
I've personally owned both but only boosted the single cam
search H-T, sohchonda.com, d-series. org, thezcresource.com and homemadeturbo.com
you'll see quite a mix of turbo single cams & dohc zcs
p.s.
liam 821 on this board built a real potent dohc zc some years back. If I were to build one... it would model his

D SOHCs are more prone to blowing headgaskets when improperly set-up, i.e. too much boost, not enough enough tuning.
When you're playing with boost, you only need to "rev" ENOUGH.

Mini Mes bump stock compression generally speaking. SO... you need to look into lower compression pistons or a thicker head gasket to compensate.
that being said... i dont have either... i've just done alot of homework on the mini me. none of the ZCs that my friends have had held up to NA abuse on road coarses... so i never thought of it as an option.

id agree with mr. speaker, ive seen the d15b vtec get the **** revved out of it and the powerband lasted pretty long. it was brought up to 8 grand by the owner many times and still runs strong.

No,I meant the actual bottem end ,it doesn't like to be revved at all. I've replaced alot of bearings and crankshafts in those motors ,and people only took them a bit over 7000revs..
But with the d15b vtec, it revs like a b16a..

Speaker is correct.
You youngsters gots to thinks more before you rev something.
ITS CALLED ROD/STROKE RATIO. D engines other than the d15 CANNOT handle revving past the stock cut out, its there for a reason.

WTF!?
you can afford a turbo kit, and forged internals, but think that H series are $$$$ ???
keep your eyes open partner.
BTW, bench racing and bench dyno tuning are GAY! any motor with a turbo will make power. a sohc and a zc will make about the same power..... its all up to you and the availability of parts.

so how does that make the dohc better? you can run 12's with a sohc to.
