hello,
I'm a newbie here..just bought a 1995 civic lx 4drs sedan with 230k on it..still runs like a champ...i love it..went for a tune up and the mechanic said my rear shock or strut is out..don't remember which..

my question is what do i have?? shock or strut?? i bought the car used and there's no manual or anything like that..anyway, if anyone could shine some light on me that would be awesome..

a) shock

or

b) strut

thanks in advance..i'm planning on changing this myself but i don't know what part is the correct part to buy..and is the brand Gabriel a good name?? like Monroe and KYB..i know KYB is good but Monroe or Gabriel i dont know..

you can find the kyb gr-2s which are stock replacments for way cheaper than that bro...keep looking...

 

any idea where?? i'm looking around and i'm not finding it anywhere..those are like the cheapest i could find so far..if u know any site, please direct me to them..i'm not in a rush to get them now since it's freakin' cold out and all..

 

i've seen KYB AGX's on ebay all day for 260..plus like 30 for shipping ..they are nice

psh,. it doesn't matter what kind it is.. what matters is whether or not the new damper works with your car...

your 95 Civic has a double wishbone suspension up front, and a trailing arm multi-link suspension in the rear..

What are you going to do with the civic.. if your just going for a repair.. then kyb agx koni red, etc.. should be fine..

ebay or HT-Marketplace to find the best deals.. people who sell the koni-yellows might also sell the reds.. just pm them and ask

if your going to "upgrade" your suspension.. do a search on what other people have done...

you can get D2, K-Sport, Function Form coilovers and call it a day.. or do a GC/Koni setup.. or some other setup.. it is all up to you..

do a search, READ and learn, then ask some specific questions.

 

just upgraded from stock to GC/koni reds if you're looking for perfromance...lol

WRONG, you have shocks. can you adjust camber from your top mounts? no? then you have shocks.

they are struts look at a shock then look at a strut tell me which one we have again

 

he has shocks, rsx's have strusts though. if you cant adjust camber at the top hat then you have a shock.

 

agreed i did some research and they do have shocks.. good call for some reason i thought they were struts good looking out
