Exhaust Mod on EG with H22a
I've got a built type s h22a in my hatch. Recently the flex pipe on the header that was on there somehow got a hole in it. Now I'm trying to come up with a good fix because I feel that the exhaust I have now, is pretty restrictive, If you ask me it was ghetto rigged on there ( I bought the car with this exhaust on it ) Starting with a dc 4-2-1 header ( **** I KNOW ) into one of those race cutouts, kinda shaped like a Y , then a cat, and after that it is a GReddy SP all the way out, At the end I hacked off the HUMONGOUS Fart can sp and put a Chambered flowmaster for a little less bling. Anyways here is what I plan on doing, I went to a pull-a-part and found a mint dc header on a prelude and picked it up for $40 so now I a header thats not beat up, now i want to get ride of that exhaust cutout Y thing and the cat as well, and replace with a test pipe. You think I should keep the cat, or ditch it? This car made around 230whp a while back with all this shitty exhaust work mentioned above on it.
Footnotes: Ditch cat for test pipe, or keep it. We don't have emissions where I'm at. This is power oriented. I've been searching alot the past week, and all I end up finding is a bunch of arguments about what is better, but this is HT maybe I'm asking too much. Thanks.

All that typing, just to ask whether you should keep the cat or not...damn, haha.
Yes, performance wise....keep the Cat as long as its a High-Flow. Even though it doesnt peform better than a test pipe...it doesnt perform any worse either. And I wouldn't call the Greddy SP2 a "fart can", its actually relatively quiet.

ya greddy sp is the ****... they arent as restrictive as you think, they're just hella quiet and not loud like all that other rice burner ****. As for keeping the cat or not, it's really up to u. I dont have one on my car... didn't really notice a difference
Yea, I am tired, and I type alot when I'm tired. But It don't think that the SP2 itself is restrictice, rather the OEM cat, and That Y pipe Is restrictive.
See what I'm saying... maybe? haha
