Connect the wire going to the ebrake switch to ground. And don't watch tv while driving; that's just stupid.

Be careful, I've had more than one customer crash because they were watching TV when you were driving.

i watch mine all the time and i haven't crashed because of it. you just can't stare at it while driving. just glance at it every once in a while.

so all i have to do is simply wire the ebrake wire in with the ground of the tv itself instead of to a seperate ground?

so, because it hasn't happened yet, means that it won't?

probably not a very smart hypothesis there...

I don't know how the laws are where you are located, but here in Colorado you get a hefty fine if there's a t.v. playing within the driver's sight while the car's in motion. I've gotten pulled over a few times at night just for mine being on the blue dvd screen, nothing playing, at night time cause it lights up the whole car's interior. Just something to consider.

agreed. tvs belong in the home. watching tv in the car is just gay.

well i have had my tv now for 5 months and been pulled over many times but no fines yet for my tv so i dont think there is a law against it. and as far as tv are for the home and not the car its just stupid. its not ur car and i like i tv in my car and yes i have a jdm style car but it jdm my style not the typical jdm style. so it may be stupid but i like it. and that is all that matters

No you misunderstood. If they see the t.v. on and playing a movie or music video while the car is in motion and your capable of seeing the t.v. if you wanted to, not neccesarily meaning you are watching it, you will get a ticket. I just looked it up and I will promise you you will get one if the cop see's you doing it. But do as you want. I had a setup where I could play movies on mine while driving, and I really didn't even watch it while driving, I just listened to it. I guess it just wasn't my cup of tea, but that's my opinion.

LoL I've gone a few 850 mile trips one way (12 hours one way) in both my '91 Crx an '91 Hatch. Just let me advise if you car is lowered, get a camber kit and an alignment before the trip, it'll be worth it

Connect the wire to a ground. Doesn't matter if it's a separate one or the one from the unit.

you can classify your car however you want. just because you've been pulled over and haven't received a ticket, it does not mean that its not illegal. You're free to do whatever you want to your car, after all, it is yours. What i have a problem with is that you have to share the road with other people and if you're watching tv while driving then thats just careless

you're certainly coming accross that way. you can not dispute that having a TV in teh car is an unnecessary distraction which in my opinion is not safe. if they were in the headrests that would be a different story but i've always thought in dash players were a bad idea.

Stop arguing already. We already warned him that it's a bad idea, but if he insists on doing it, let him do it. If he gets distracted and kills somebody, that will be his problem.

how did this tread turn into a "tell him what to do" tread? all he asked was a simple question that needed a simple answer. if you have an opinion that's fine but he is going to do what he wants regardless of what anyone says.

Well what did you expect, most people when asked how to do something dangerous will tell you it's dangerous, and why, as I would, however you are right it's your car and you can do what you want, that's not going to stop anyone from telling you not to.
You didn't really expect to ask a question like that and get a simple answer, like this did you?...
Wire it like you are supposed to, back off on the hand brake adjustment until you can pull the hand brake up enough for it to lock into the first spot on the ratchet, [hand brake light in instrument cluster should come on] but the brakes themselves would not come on, you would still have lots of room to set the brake if you need to.
This would also allow you to release the hand brake if it looks like you are going to be pulled over, and you will be able to show that you have to set the hand brake for it to work.
Simple enough of an answer?

I am in no way recommending you do the above, only to give you the simple answer you want, and the rest of us will just hope it's only you in the car when you hit the concrete overpass support, instead of another car or pediatrician. 94

yea that is a simple answer. and i aint gonna hit no concrete overpass support. or another car. the problem with this thread is everyone is jumping to conclusion thinking i am always gonna have a movie in my tv or whatever. its just a little less hassle than pulling the ebrake everytime. sorry
