'94 ex flooding out after rebuild
first let me start off by saying that i am not very honda savy, this is a friend's handle iam posting on, that being said...
iam working on a '94 ex, that was originaly a d16-z6 car, and had a greddy turbo kit.. they guy wound up throwing a rod.. and when searching for a cheap shortblock, all he could find was a d16-y7, so he put the z6 head on the y7 shortblock, and re installed it in the car..
now the car is pig rich, (raw gas is coming out of the down pipe, and it will run, but will not idle, smokes bad, and will wash the plugs out.. i have not verified all the connections to the sensors, but he swears that every thing is hooked up..
so my question is, what would cause it to flood like that? a local preformance shop owner told me the map sensor is probably bad, but the car ran great before the engine got blown up, so my thinking is that somthing is not hooked up properly, but i could be wrong, what would be some good places to look?

well, i cranked it up today, and when it first started it it revved somewhat smooth, for about 5 seconds, and it started mssing it's add off, and i also noticed when it started missing and popping, when i floored it, it would almost dead, it would rev to a certain point, and fall on it's face.. held it on the floor, and it backfired really loud and went dead.. any ideas? it is running very rich and blowing black smoke.. is it possible that the cam could be a tooth off? i would not think that that would cause it, but stranger things have happened..
What kind of spark plugs are you using and are they new? What are they gapped to?.Make sure no injector plugs are switched up.Are the injectors stock or larger? What condition is the Distributor cap/rotor/plug wires in? Do you have a fuel pressure regulator or guage? If so what is the fuel pressure set to at idle? Is there an aftermarket fuel pump?
plugs are the cheap auto lites, because the ngk's got fuel fouled, they are pre gapped (don't know at what, but that is not going to make it run like this) yes the injectors are hooked up right.. no fuel pressure gauge, after market gauge or regulator.. it had a set of rc engineering 44cc's but we swapped them back to stock, and it runs the same.. it has a walbro 255 fuel pump, but every thing is as it was before the motor was pulled, and it ran GREAT before they blew the enigine.. it does have a v-afc, but iam pretty sure that it was messed with.. the distrirbutor and wires are as they were before the engine blew..
obviously.... but it ran extremely rich with the 440's and they swapped in the stock injetors and it's still running super rich, so iam would think that the afc is not the problem.. and i have no clue how it is tuned
