New bandsaw
Any particular reason why you went with Grizzly instead of Enco? They look identical to me and have the same ratings and Enco is $150+ cheaper after shipping charges. Enco acctually had a discount before, and I was able to get a 7x12 with a geared head for under 1k shipped (this one ~$920+?).
Congrats on the purchase
. I was just curious

Bob would hurt himself or end up cutting his house down with one of them, LOL

I need to post of video of the saw running in automatic mode. It looks fake to see something that large move by itself, its been down for the last month it blew a hydraulic cylinder and I finally got it out and had it rebuilt

hahah how did I know you were going to say something like that.
It is a grizzly and it was about just under a grand.
What TPI are you guys using ? And what name brands, so far I'm leaning towards lenox and enco. Also what type of coolant.

Personal preferance. I like the grizzly, it has some really nice small features that make things a little easier.

Bob,
TPI depends on the HP and what your cutting. Most Blade MFG have a chart to reference to. Ive used Morse, Kennametal, Lenox All are good blades. Im currently using a 4 tpi blade because it came on the machine im to lazy to change it but the normaly rule of thumb is atleast 2-3 teeth need to be in contact with the material @ all times for proper chip cutting/evacuation. Example 10+ for exhaust tubing 3 or 4 tpi for large solids

What do you mean goes bad ? Can you explain that more ?

Blaser SwissLube - Blasocut is what I usedin my cnc lathe and the band saw
http://www.blaser.com/index.cf...nd=us
its about 20ish a gallon and mixes about 10 parts water to 1 part coolant. Check with your local distributor but the smallest they sell i think is a 5 gallon pail but I could be wrong.

Coolant goes "Bad" When bacteria begins to grow in the coolant and starts stink alot and if you have a cut on your hand or sensative skin you can be easily infected or get a rash from it.
Care to time the first cut on a collector piece, and the time on a piece of sch10 (straight cut). Just curious what that thing'll do. I am at my limit on this HF bandsaw. Tax return is coming and I'm thinkin...

Must it be a collector piece, or just sch10 ? I'm waiting on my new blade, the one they supply is 8tpi and is causing issues cutting stainless.

Well, doesn't matter I suppose. Just doing a straight cut of a sch10 piece would still be a good idea of what I am missing. I think the HF takes about 4.5 minutes to straight cut a piece of sch10 stainless. Yeah, time a cut if you don't mind.

I cut an intercooler today, took roughly I believe 30 seconds but that aluminum. Off hand hard to say, think sch10 will take about 1 minute. I will try it with the new blade

Cut stainless today, with my new blade, no coolant was used, I need another gallon. I'm very happy on how this thing cuts, I had one issue but that was my fault that I fed the blade to fast. Overall, very very pleased with the piece of machinery and I'm very pleased with grizzly and the service they have been offering me.
And for the people with the 4x6 smaller saws, wondering if the blade ever pops off or anything, nope, the only thing I had happen is the blade would freeze and I just turn the machine off. If you left the machine on, yes the blade pops off some what, but nothing like the harbor freight saw.
