code 20 (ELD) after 97 obdII gsr swap

code 20 (ELD) after 97 obdII gsr swap
just wondering if anybody has had this problem after a motor swap. The code wasnt there befor the swap, so i know its not a bad detector. what can i do to fix it. would wires too long in the wire harness set the code? also, would that code make the car die? Just replaced the alternator and battery with new ones and the juice still drains. No sound system is installed. its a 96 civic dx by the way.

check all your grounds,check the ALT wires and also check the ALT with a multi meter
