Would a stock LS/VTEC blow quick?
Ok guys. Let me start off by saying that lately I have been doing my research on this topic. It seems that a lot of people are saying that a stock LS/VTEC build will grenade shortly. I understand that it is because of the the piston valve lash. My question is, could I mate my B16 head to my LS block properly to keep reliability? I'm not too interested in building up the motor because I am looking to see how inexpensively this could be done without cutting any corners. I got a PR3 head for $150 locally in mint condition as well as an LS block (also in perfect condition) for $20. So far I have a full block for $170, and for that I think I am doing well. I'm willing to buy ARP studs and am open to suggestions on torque specs. What can I do to keep this motor from blowing up once I get it in? Also, I don't have the distributor. Is there a best choice for a distributor/ecu combination? I'm sorry for all my noob questions... I just don't know whether I should turn around and sell this stuff or go for a build if I can do it cheaply enough. My budget is limited, and whatever play money I have for motor build pretty much goes into my H22A in my del Sol (which for the most part is finally all done).
No. As long as you do it properly it can be just as good as a stock motor

What?
Anyway, i built an all OEM bottom end LS/V a year or two ago that made around 214hp on CAT's dynapack and has last over 20k before it was pulled in favor of going bigger.
