K Series Swap
I know I have not posted in awhile. I have been having issues with my prelude and financial issues. However....things are starting to get back on track I just so happen to run into an interesting swap on Honda Tuning....a k series in a accord. Correct me if I am wrong but the mounts and pretty much the engine bay configuration are the same between a 92-96 prelude and a 94-97 accord? If that is the case? Why would'nt a k series swap work in a lude just as it did from the 94-97 accord?
Anyone have any input?

i read the same article mate, sounds promising, shame the K's are to pricey for the moment. Might give it another year before i start seriously looking into it.
yeah, I looked into a k series for a civic and damn those things are expensive... Better off looking for a crashed up rsx-s and buying it and parting it out or something. might end up paying less for the motor/tranny etc. that way. I think a k series into a 4th gen would be great because we all know how little aftermarket companies liek the h22 and h23 and F22. Even if peopel say it's "sacreligious" to swap a motor from another car into a prelude, it's still honda parts, and it will just open more possibilities to where your 4th gen could end up.. ya 'know? i'd go for it if i had cash like that, but I don't..
hasport doesn't advertise that they have any motor mounts to get ANY motor into a prelude of any year.. lets see what an e-mail turns up shall we?
edit: no e-mail listed on their site, i'll call them later

but just look at the aftermarket support for the k series, there are just a LOT more options for parts for n/a AND turbo for many different target HP ranges...

id say that is very true....k series have a load of upgrades for them...but just in my thoughts....those motors arent close to giving me any attention...they however are the newest line of motors for honda's...the K series do have much potential that lie in them...it would be nice to have a first k series prelude...but that to me is if your not power hungry....ive driven the 05 and 03 RSX, 06 SI raced them also stock H to stock K...and H took it....its not that im not impressed they just dont have the power needed for draggers...im not bagging its just my thoughts...so before anyone gets flammed up about this..i believe the k series motors are new high end technology motors...but they just dont have the power to back it up...ive seen also various build ups on magazines and in hatchs at the track...theres actually a team of CRX's and hatchs that have a K series swap crew...they run on built motors..cams etc...but there still in the high 13's....stock they do low 14's in hatchs...and yeah thats why most of the real trackers still do B series swaps..cause there cheap and powerful..although...i still wouldnt disagree on making that K series lude...its a first and must see...

I have seen that to but the support is so much more wide spread and let us not forget the 6 speed tranny. It may not be good for dragging however it is fun to drive. I would love to be the first k series lude....and in feb I may have the money for it.. I was going to spend it on the paint job but I want that swap....lol
To all the above statments. First, it has already been done. Second, I hate repeating this ...

Then you will no longer have a prelude, you would have a RSXs in a prelude shell. Most people with RSXs will have little respect for your car, and alot of luders would also feel the same way.
Look, new technology will always come out. Grow some ***** and make your car better than new. the K series is a better motor for a N/A route. However H series yeild just as much or more potential with a FI route.
The money you will spend for a K series swap, you could have a 350+ whp turbo lude... or a 250+ N/A lude.
After you do your swap, you then have to modify your k20. This means even more money spent. I will tell you know, a simple k20 swap in your lude isnt going to be worth it. Chances are that your car wont be much faster, if faster at all than a H22 stock. I say sell your prelude and buy a RSXs. Atleast right now, the price for the swap isnt feasable. I heard you will be lookn in th 5k range. Thats probably more than your 4th gen is worth lol. Anyway... have fun. At the end of the day its still your car, do with it as you please.
Above all. Keep your prelude a prelude if you have any respect for your car. That is IMHO.

very well said...i believe a k20 in a lude shell will be very slow in a way...even with the six speed...you will get owned most likely by everyone so just go with a more powerful swap if you got the 5k...Euro R like i said or somethin...stock to stock the H is still better in my book...but if you do intend to do the K swap you will most likely like project bb6 said, have no respect and have your car skooled by everyone plus like i said...stay with the H

I'd swap a k24/k20 hybrid if I had unlimited money. The response of the motor & the butter tranny make it a no brainer IMO.

there already are preludes with the K20's in them..i dont know what you guys are talking about being the first K series prelude? just search for pics on various websites...i have a pic of a lude with a K20 sitting in it i just dont know how to post pics...and the 6 speed tranny might be more usefull on a freeway but to me its just more shifts when racing...keep the H's in your prelude guys

Eh? I've seen numerous RSXS's that put down well over 200whp with just bolt-on's a tuning. That is just absolutely sick.

While this might be true with the amount of money/custom work that would have to be put into K into a prelude plus the price of the swap itself you could instead have a fully built bad-*** one sick ***** H22 and probaly still have mula left over. The amount of money/time of the K swap really isn't worth it. I mean everything with have to be custom, from motor mounts to the header to the ECU I could go on and on. I'd say go get yourself a Euro-R motor and build that bad boy and keep a couple g's.

This has been discussed so many times.
Just buy a ******* rsx if u want a kseries.
As much as it would cost to get in a lude u could buy an rsx practically.
Spend the money on the h22.

As soon as the price becomes viable most of the K-haters will be fighting themselves to get one. Its inevitable. How easy are H series to put in/mod etc? My gran could probably do a H series swap lol. I don;t see the point of putting a K20 in my car that would be pointless, but a hybrid K20/K24 or even a K24/F20 would be a perfect swap.
Who gives a expletive what RSX and other Prelude owners think, there will always be someone with an opinion which invariable changes with the herd anyway.
I say the Hybrid swap will be THE swap to do in a few years time, theres no getting away from it.

I love kseries. I have worked on them and they are amazing. They make power very easily. And the shifting is so smooth its crazy. But if you have an h22 spend the money on it.
Id like to try and get a kseries drivetrain on a h22

By the time a k series swap is affordable. My car would be boosted to all hell. Lol. No really tho, its been discussed many times. Topic is growing tired... do what you want man. As always Good luck

yeah i dont care what anyone says. there is no reason i wouldnt respect someone for putting a k-series into their car. they are better motors. i dont care what any prelude guy says. the h22 came out in 1992. technology has advanced a lot since then. be original, put a k in there. if you have the money, spend it how you want. saying that no one will respect it is like saying no one will respect a k hatch. those are like the most popular things out there right now.

by "cash like that" i mean LOTS of cash, please believe me i'd definatly rather buy a Z06 Corvette before doing a k-swap, but i'd do the k swap to be different.. and just to do it.. for the challenge you know? I couldn't care less what other people thought about it. it's nowhere near economical iknow, but woudl be funt to do. Just liek the guy who is converting his 4th gen to RWD with RX7 parts and a Chevy 350. for the money HE spent, thta coudl be a badass lude, and obviously muscle heads will laugh at him (well maybe not since they aren't as much of judgemental as "import' guys are USUALLY) but I don't think it's going to bother him when he's looking at the final product of all the work he did.

Not the same thing. The stock hatch motor = weak. "I" would rather like to see them use there original motor and beat me than swap in "my" motor and beat me. You must understand that RSX-S, Prelude, Civic SI,... all in the same class (D somthing lol). If someone took there new Civic SI and swaped in an H22, "I" would laugh. So would most of his SI buddies. Still thats not nearly as bad as doing a $5,000 swap. $5000 will get your car boosted to hell. Or a nice n/a setup. Wow its getn late and this is a waste of time... sry my oppinons really dont matter. Respect your lude for what it is? I guess that would explain why the fastest all motor Honda cars are running K series and not H series.
I have seen simple "stock" block swaps and mild cams make 230hp+
Who cares what people think....in the end..its about what you want. Its your car and your decision

No one is talkn about that. Sure n/a a K series is awsome. But its not smart from a $ stand point. Im not sure of the exact price of a k series swap but its like in 5k range. You can easily get 350-400+whp outta your H series with that (FI ofcourse). All im saying is it is not logical.

Def agree with the bold statment. However all I am saying is respect your car for what it is. New technology will always come out. Who knows what will come out next. New H series?... technology is improving and always will.
With the money used for a k20 swap + bolt ons + tunning , to get to 250whp ($6000-7000). Im sure if anyone is smart enough, that money could be put to better use.
