I own a 02 RSX S and I notice that vtec will not kick in first gear, but kicks in 2nd gear. Whats wrong? Also will it hurt the motor if I take it to high rpm's with vtec not working?
Doesn't VTEC kick in only when you're above 25 or 35 mph? I'm not 100% sure on that though. But I think that is what's happening since you say it won't engage in first gear, but will in 2nd gear and on...

Well I just added two quarts of oil cause it was low. After that I ran it a few min and vtec was working again. Any idea's why it would do that? also has anybody experience oil burning with there rsx/ep3 k20?
well no man not at all mine is a 04 no burning oil and about the vtec thing well seems weird, when u went to auto zone did they told u about a code or something?
you should do some reasearch about Vtec and learn how the motor works. you need the right amount of oil in the engine because if its low you don't get the right amount of pressure to ingage the Vtec pin. so in other words oil is what kicks on the solenoid to engage the vtec
for me it sounds like u have oil problems u say your car is burning oil and that when u put on more oil the vtec started working again. have u been reving high your car?
well the k series is meant to be for reving high but if ur all stock i highly recommend u not to, u dont want to mest u ur internal **** and then u would have a problem

what???? why?
what???? why?
if your oil was low enough to where you needed 2 quarts and you were revving the **** out of it, expect it not to last long. running on 3 quarts and beating the **** out of it is pretty damn bad.
Not to be cruel but if you don't know enough about cars to check your own oil then you better not be beating on your car because if you break something your going to be up ***** creek. Unless you just have the extra money to be replacing your motor.

To set the facts straight, I do take care of my car! I change my car's oil every 2500 miles, engine tuned, baby it, and keep it clean etc... It's a newer car and I should not have to be worried about it burning oil so soon! I only had this car three month's and I'm having to deal with this problem. All I want to do is figure out this problem and fix it!

When it kick's in 2nd gear it's normal. It doesnt feel weak or slow. It only did that one day before I check the oil.
i have a 91 integra im tring to run ls/vtec.....but my vtec is not working....i have enough oil....i ran my vtec wires......i have power to both the solonoid and the pressure switch...and its still won't kick on......can anyone help me
I vtec does not kick. I have driven an rh/e/cai rsx and a kpro'ed rsx and in neither of them did the car have a "kick"
You also are wasting money changing your oil every 2500 miles just for future refferance.
