Default Who knows how much labor is to install QUAIFE diff. Anyone in norcal?

What are the average prices or how many hours does it take for a professional to install a quaife differential. Anyone know of any cheaper, good places to go. Anywhere from San Jose, San Fran, to Sacramento im willing to go.
Thanks,
Spencer

An LSD install is definitely not a job you want the "cheapest shop" to do. The installer really needs to have experience in this kind of install and know what they are doing. The Quaife must be shimmed and preloaded properly, otherwise it may cause damage to your tranny...

I am paying 260 for my install, but that is with the engine already out of the car. So, add whatever labor costs to r and r the tranny (~300-400 dollars).

I had my Honda dealer do it. Including parts (MTF, carrier bolts, shims, bearings), the bill was right around $450 @ $62/hr for labor. Well worth the $$.

I would suggest you go to the LSD Install topic in the FAQ's at Prelude Online and check out the "shadetree" directions. I printed a copy for my dealer and they were glad to have them. Not an easy install the first time out.

Nope, not cheap. But the dealer still honored the factory warranty on everything but the diff. Peace of mind can be expensive.

Damn they actually going to still honor your warranty?? The dealers in your area are cool, over here if they see anything so much as an exhaust they try to void the warranty asap....unless you argue for like 2 hours.

Yup. In fact, my clutch throwout bearing started making noise about 3K miles after the install. The service manager said that they probably didn't re-fit it correctly when they put the tranny back together, and they replaced it for free.

That guy has my respect.
