Default Piston/valve clearance, searched, not a noob question (bad anyway)

I know I have to clay the motor, not arguing that, just wanting some input prior to continuing.

Setup is simple, I only have to list specifics, The block is a stock LS, pistons will be either PR3 or P73-00, I have both and both are mint, PR3 just has a slightly higher compression ratio but that doesn't matter much with this question I think.

Head is cut .020 from two trips to the machine shop while the car was boosted and I kept lifting the head (damn ARP).

Now my question is, if I have the block decked to set the piston in the hole .020 instead of the normal .030 with the LS rods and crank, am I going to far? Cams will be S2S2 with S2 valvetrain and cam gears. I know I can adjust the gears to keep from hitting the pistons, but will it be so close that I risk losing power because of the amount of movement I have to make?

This is not a stupid question I hope, I plan on claying the motor naturally as I have a lot of money tied up into everything I have for it, I just want to make sure that cutting the block will not be the straw that broke the camels back in case anyone else has the same setup and has already done it. If it will be good, awesome, if not, I will stick with .030 in the hole and go from there.

Thanks for any input and sorry for the long winded post, I just wanted all the facts out there so you guys could give me a hand before I drop it all off at the shop Tuesday.

I was always under the impression that there was only .020 deck clearance with LS rods and ITR pistons. I actually calculated .019. .030 seems like a lot. I dont know, i dont really do anything b related but but just running the numbers, thats what i came up with.

Im assuming you block was cut .010?

By my calculations that would put you at .009 piston to deck, with the stock b series crushed gasket youll have about .035 piston to head clearance. With the head cut .020 Id highly recommend claying. Its going to be close with the ITR or PR3 reliefs and the S2S2 cams.

Well, you could be right, I was unsure as well and went to an online calculator and it came up with .030 so I was going to take it down .010 to match b16/ITR pistion height.
