Default FG COUPE 10" Sidewall Sub Box- Fiberglass------Projekt1

So heres the box i have been working on adn its nearing completion. It just needs the finish sand and paint...Its for Any FG coupe - (dx/lx/ex/si) - but will not fit the sedan FA's. Fits in the driver side rear sidewall flush-mount for a single 10" sub, up to 9" deep. Is roughly 1.2 cu ft of sealed airspace....

the build:

i'm looking to build one for my lx sedan, what exactly did you use to make the mold??

Here is a picture of my current setup

I want to leave them there but mold my box to fit flush with the back seat and only out to the probably half way down the wheel well, want to leave lots of room in the trunk cause right now i don't have a lot left

any thoughts??

good job by the way, looks pretty sweet

i just lined the sidewall with plastic, taped it up, and started laying the fiberglass inside the trunk.
Once it dried, i pulled it out, and had a complete mold for the trunk's sidewall- then i just dremel trimmed it to the size and shape i wanted the box to fit.
Then i constructed the face of the box.
tada.

cool....looks pretty sweet, good job on the build, i'm thinking i'm either gonna put one box against the back seats or two boxes molded to the corners like what you built, and do it that way.

thanks for the input man...

it depends on how much hardener you use. I always use more than the directions say becuase it just dries faster...My molds usually take about 30-60min. to dri before i can remove them. It will take longer if you dont add enough hardener....I have seen it take as long as 2-3 days (when i was experimenting with fiberglass)....

Now with that inclosure installed, can you still remove enough of the carpeting to expose the rear tail light in order to change the blubs if need be?

Great lookin boxes there. You certainly know your stuff. I'm thinkin about getting a setup like that.

Any chance a 12" sub might fit in that driver corner?

So how is the box secured inside the trunk then? Is it molded in a way that its a nice snug fit into the side, or is it bolted down or something?

yeesiiir. I could easily make one.

x2: It is an EXACT MOLD of the Driver's sidewall trunk liner. Fits Perfect. 2nd, I have security bolts that can be installed to make it not easily removable.

Cool. So it's a pressure fit box? No bolting needed? That would really come in handy.

I just need a car to take a mold from and i can pretty much make anything for any size speaker. the biggest box i ever did was for a 15" sub.
