Help, my Del Sol driver side door handle is loose. Pero but Why?

Help, my Del Sol driver side door handle is loose. Pero but Why?
On 01/013/07 at around 2200, my wife went to warm my car up. She was able to open the door fine. After she got out, she tried to open the door with no success 
. I can still open the door from the inside. What went wrong and how do you fix this. What should I be looking for and where to buy the parts. It was like 12F outside and it was park outside all day. Who's at fault my wife, weather or the 12 year old car.
The exterior driver side door handle is loose and it does not engage.
My vehicle is a 95 vtec del sol with keless entry and alarm.

My guess would probally be the rod that connects to the locking mechanism probally fell off or broke. you may want to ask this in the sol thread
