The civic I have has a testpipe on the exhaust? the previous owner put it on, what does it do?

 

it's a straight pipe that goes where the catalytic converter goes. It sucks.

 

i have a cat and a test pipe though

You're right, but whether or not it sucks is up to opinion.

 

It is basically a piece of pipe that replaces the catalytic converter. It is a good power adder for forced induction applications.

Sucks is a strong word. Let me rephrase that.

They're not really practical in most non-race applications.

If he has the cat in the exhaust manifold and a bolt up exhaust for an EX, the car would have a gap that a test pipe would fit right into.

I guess that would work. I'm not sure if the HX has the cat in the manifold tho.

*EDIT* Apparently, it is.

 

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the test pipe?
