Default SOHC ZC into HF.....what ECU?

My younger brother just picked up a SOHC ZC from a local buyer and member.

My question is, what ECU's would you guys recommend using in this swap?

He currently has/had a Mini Me swap but apparently the idiot hydro locked it last week. **At least thats what we think**. I havent had time to even take it apart to check.

The dude sold him a PM6 ECU with the swap. Plausible?

Thanks fellas.

pm6 = a6
pm7 = zc

The pm6 will work for the zc, however, i would try and get ahold of the pm7.

pm7 is the ecu for a dohc zc, you can use a pm7...a pm6 would be closest to the factory ecu....a pr4 or pm7 would give you a little nice timing and fuel curve but ure gonna lose some gas mileage with that

He said it was an SOHC ZC. The PM7 is the DOHC ZC's ECU.

Get a PM6. Anything else will be less of a match.

still the pg7 will run better, its a bit more rich and has better timming maps for the sohc zc that has higher comp and a more agressive cam then the a6...

so it will shine on top...

I ran a PG7 ECU on my SOHC ZC and it ran way too rich. It wan't better at all until after 6500, then it felt ok. The PG7 is too rich for the SOHC.

The SOHC ZC is basically a D16A6, which uses a PM6 ECU. The cam in the SOHC ZC is a little better, allowing it to rev a little more, and produce more low end torque. ( A little, mind you.)

So choose: a pig rich car that will have a real narrow top end powerband, or an actual usable fuel map.

Thank everyone ...

We already have a PM6 so we'll just stick with that.

the sohc zc has the same compression ratio as an a6...they both use pm6 pistons... the motor is absolutely identical to an a6 (except the cam)

pg7 made my a6 run worse on the dyno. not much, because its not much of a difference, but it wasnt better.

and compression is the same on a sohc zc. just the larger intake lobes.

youre completely speculating. and based on my experience, its not going to be an improvement.

no sorry i dont speculate, unlike 99% of HT

i only post in topics i have personal experiance on.

And from what i recall when i had ZC's (around 7 years ago) the pg7 "felt" better but if theres dyno proof of the pm6 running better then my buttdyno wasnt so accurate after all.

DOHC ZC or SOHC ZC? do you know the difference?

with my A6, tuned with the PG7 and then put the PM6 in for kicks, PM6 showed a better curve (ignore the blip at throttle cut off). go figure. the air/fuel graph does indeed show it is different too. obviously not for the better.

As stated above. That is the setup I have. All the sohc notec zc is, is the jap equivelent of the A6 in the si......use the PM6 ONLY! Or you will run pig rich or your timing will never be right.

*oops, im too late, dial up sucks.*

i ran 2 dohc's and 1 sohc ZC back in the day...

i think one had 2 cams and the other only has one cam, is that the difference guy?
