switching to a 5spd
thinking of changing my auto 92 (with an h23a1 swap already done on it) to a 5spd tranny...but how much do you tihink it will set me back? im talking buying parts and having a professional do it for me...
I'm guessing around a 1000-1200 for everything but yeah I would say call around friend and see who would take the job, not a lot of shops will offer to do a tranny swap for you.
im in the process of doing mine on a 93 all in all prolly cost me about 1k doing the work myself of course. Its getting to be a pain in the *** though
Price depends mostly on..
1. If you do the labor yourself ($500-1000 if you don't), and
2. What type of tranny you want
You can find P2U5 (94-97 Accord EX F22B1) trannies for $350, or you can go with H22 trannies (M2A4, M2F4) that will cost you anywhere from $650-$900. Then there's the sought after JDM LSD M2B4 that may set you back even further. A good compromise between money and high gear ratios is a H23 tranny (M2S4) that will be priced somewhere inbetween the Accord and H22 trannies.
You can get all the parts for cheap, and it helps if the tranny has parts you need already on it, like the slave cylinder, clutch cable holding bracket, the banjo bolt, and you ocassionally see trannies with the mount still on it! I got my pedals, shifter/cables/brackets/bolts, MC reservoir, hardline, and clutch dampener/line/hoses for $26!! J-u-n-k-y-a-r-d.
That still leaves the clutch assy, flywheel, intermediate shaft, ecu, and all the bolts you'll wish you accounted for when doing your shopping.
