noob questtion: what are the point of hood pins?

to keep your hood from flying off
usually cf hood companies use cheap latches, bad process etc and the latch ends up breaking at high speeds causing you to ruin your windshield roof etc\hood pins keep the hood on the car

or you can be ricer and put them on stock hoods

ive heard they prevent from thieves? how do they do this?

if youre getting hood pins as a security layer..id suggest you consider getting other things first like an alarm lol
