Amsoil in the Si tranny
http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/mtf.aspx
I just changed the tranny oil in my '07 FA5 to Amsoil MTF and the difference is like night and day. It shifts so much more smoothly. It is so worth it!

They'll probably still charge you to change the fluid. I told them about my 3rd gear "notchyness" and all they could barf up was that they "couldn't duplicate the problem" and how the Si has a different gearbox than the other models.

It wont void your warranty.
And changing your own transmission fluid is so easy even a caveman could do it
They sell little $3 pumps that screw into the qts of fluid and you simply pump until it starts coming out the fill hole. I'd reccomend spending a little extra $ on the pump as the really inexpesnive ones break after a couple uses

Thank god.....
But are there any long term effects to worry about like the guy mentioned??

Nobody accept this! My dealer looked up the service bulletin, called up American Honda, and they told him they've been having problems with ALL Honda 6-speed transmissions. They also said they do not have a solid fix for it, but recommended letting the car warm up for 3-5 minutes before driving, an answer he nor I were happy with. They said some dealers have tried changing out parts but hasn't really helped, however, changing the transmission fluid to a less viscous fluid HAS helped because it heats up a lot faster than the factory stuff. He changed my transmission fluid for FREE.
So moral of the story, Honda knows this is a problem, and your dealer should address it under warranty.
Edit: He also mentioned that Honda has been having a hell of a time with customers living farther north than I. Cold weather doesn't treat these trannys so good.

Good to hear. But my dealer doesn't seem to know that 3rd gear is a problem like I said. I suggested changing the fluid but they said they would charge me cause they couldn't "dupicate the problem". Either that or they didn't even try.
Well since my dealership down SOUTH is being so **** any suggestions on what I should do?

Honda mtf sucks, especially in the cold.
I change mine every 15,000-20,000 km's or so.(especially when racing)
I use a blend of Redline MTL, Redline MT-90, and GM synchromesh.
It is very smooth, even in the cold winters we get here in Canada.
Down-shifting is incredible with this combo.
Alot of racers use this blend.

I wouldnt go as far to say that honda MTF "SUCKS" but its definantly not great for cold climates / racing conditions.

My car was slightly notchy first winter(10,000km's).
I swapped the fluid for redline, gone.
Most of the problem with the tranny is the fluid.
They even made a version 2, because of it's performance.
Maybe it doesn't suck, ok.
But, it's definately not great for shifting a transmission.
