Default sooo I converted my EG to complete cable clutch setup...

yeah, it was free, all it took me was some cutting/grinding/welding and voila, I have a 90-93 teg clutch setup in my EG so I dont have to go out and buy all the civic hydraulic components AND the cable/hydro conversion cable.

only took me about 4 hours worth of work. I still need to cut the pedal itself and redo the angle a little bit as it sits a bit high but other than that it works perfect.

oh yeah, another reason I did it is because I'm using the complete brake swap from the donor 91 LS and the master cylinder doesnt have the line for the hydraulic slave cylinder.

Good stuff man. Fix those pics so we can see whatcha got.

Now that its all done, do you notice any differences between cable/hydro? I know there's a difference, but I've honeslty never driven a cable clutch'd car before so I would'nt know the difference. Well, I've never driven any Hondas other than a 93 Prelude, 99 Civic, and a 95 Integra, so whatever clutches are in those three...I've driven, haha.

Hydro is the best self adjusting. But the bonus of having cable is hydro cylinder failure. Thus same if the cable were to snap.

I'm actually kinda dumbfounded that somebody would do this.

Nice job though.

like I said. free and I needed the car on the road yesterday.

I have $28 in my checking account but I've already got an air compressor with cutting tools, a plasma gun, a welder, etc.

and a few misc. pedal sets.

so I made what I needed. depending on how it feels after I drive it a little, I'll probably keep it. All my mustangs have cable clutch anyway so I'm used to it.

yeah, guess I should have been clearer on that in my first post lol.

I also didnt modify the stock civic clutch pedal so that if I want to eventually convert over to it, I'll be able to. I did modify the civic pedal frame a little but only to the point of putting a hole in it for the integra clutch cable sleeve. And I didnt weld that in place so all I gotta do is pull it out if I go to convert over.

please bring your sappy *** down here and show me your knuckles....although i understand he got the parts for free he would have made the better choice by selling the parts and getting hydro parts...imo the cable clutch leaves too much room for error on behalf of the installer if he doesnt know how to adjust it properly...i do congratulate him on the install but it wasnt the wise choice

oh and let me know when you want to come down to AZ and cave my chest in

It still doesnt explain why you straight out insulted him for no reason. People like you really make me wonder if the whole theory about how the "fastest" sperm to the egg becomes a child. Because with the attitude and wit that you obviously posess...I don't know how you could ever been the fastest sperm.

You offer nothing to this thread, and surely life itself.

true...i shouldnt have came out and insulted him like that and for that i apologize to him...i shouldve made my distaste for his choice a bit more mature...i dont believe that people talking trash to each other online is a very adult way of dealing with things so if you have some problem with me then please fly down to AZ or ill meet you half way in Texas and we will talk things out or you can simply say that the comments that you made were no better than the one i made

Aside from all the bitching, why would you convert to the old, inferior style? Are you gonna run a F or K series tranny?

Hehe, i like that sticker. Curved Radiator Hose.
How many cars use a radiator hose that doesnt curve at all? Any of em?

between my sohc hydro tranny and my buddys soch cable tranny (crx and eg) i really like the feel of the cable clutch. to me it seams that you get a better feel of the clutch but it also takes more calf muscle to throw it down when your runnin a HD pressure plate on either.

I can see why the OP decided to go this route with it being free. but in all honesty, i would prefer the cable feel. to me it just feels like it cant go wrong and its one less system that needs to be blead.

Your confusing a cable actuated with a cable release. He still has shift rods to change gears, he just swapped the hydro release system for a older cable setup.

so basically you are saying that because some DUMBASSES cant properly adjust a cable setup that its inferior??? that just shows your ignorance.

OP: congrats on the UPGRADE, i sold my EG and got an EF just for the cable clutch, LOL.

someone once said anolog is better than digital, in this case, i believe it is, besides its personal preferance, and just think how much cheaper cable trannies are. F U C K all the haters, props to you.

Your missing the point, no matter how the clutch is actuated the hydro trannys are stronger than cable stock for stock. Going from hydro to cable is taking a step back, even though in his situation he really had no choice. Did you ever wonder why those cable trannys were cheaper?

I don't mean to dirty up the thread any more, but I wanted to say I respect this post and I withdraw my comments. I was moreso "******' around" than actually serious, so I have no problem admitting that my comments were just as immature. I now have nothing against you whatsoever and will gladly help you in a mature fasion if you may ever post a thread with a problem.

no, I didnt, not, have any choice. I CHOSE cable clutch. the reason most teg cable clutch trans are torn up is because people DONT adjust them.... I'm used to this from my mustangs. the one I have is PERFECT and adjusted just fine. when I feel it starting to grab, I'll just twist the **** until it's botttomed out and then I'll swap the clutch and start over. simple as that.

people who have only known hydraulic only think hydro. but I've been in both worlds and when I had the chance to go with the cheaper cable option. I went with it.

and this thread and the PROOF that cable CAN be done in an EG frame is possible....is for all the "el cheapo" cable clutch guys out there with simple welding skillz...

I cant knock you for doing this but if you could have I am sure you would have stayed hydro at least you can get cheaper priced trannys.
