b16 swap trouble.
okay i put a b16 sirII complete package into a 94 del sol s.
i've completed the swap, but i havent wired vtec yet, and it seems to be burning a hell of a lot of gas.
what could this be?

First off it could be 25 different things causing this problem of yours. Try and describe as much detail about your motor as possible. for instance, how many miles are on the engine, what modifications are done to it etc. No one can diagnose an engine problem like that on a computer screen. Atleast i havn't seen someone yet.

Exactly. Gotta get those CEL codes,(if any) and we can go from there.

yeah he was right, im kind of new to the honda world but im very interested in finding out...well everything.
so is checking for cels an easy task?
where i live, there arent many people that know much about motorswaps except rednecks and if it isnt a v8 their not touching it.
by the way, there was a very little smoke at first but its stopped. and as far as i know it has under 450000 miles and is completely stock other then a CAI and soon to be catback. its from hmotorsonline.

nah, im not really comfortable driving it around quite yet. i dont wanna break anything before i get it completely hooked up and im not comfortable enough to wire vtec either, will it hurt the motor if i drive without vtec wired up?
stage 1 of vtec has like a redline of like 5000 rpm.
that why it switch to stage 2 which has a red line of 8200 rpm..
yet stage 2 will not give you good power at low rpm..
thats why we have vtec..

no.. you are fine.. just you will not get air in the cylinder and you will be slow..
after 5000 rpm you power drops off.. with out your vtec connected you will get more power at 5000 rpm then at 8000 rpm..
it may feel like you getting power but wait till you fell the real thing..

you will your take up.. reset your milage... drive a few days...
go to get gas// fill it up agian.. write down how many gals you put in..
then look at you mileage..
lets say you took
3.586 gal
and drove
80.3 miles
80.3/3.586 = 22.4 MPG
fill to the max each time
