CAR WONT START!!
i got a 98 gsr that wont start. i took off the valve cover yesterday took it to school n painted it. put it back on reattached the spark plug wires intake n ground and car will not crank. has nothing there, but hte fan turns on. all electric works. checked fuses and got a new ground but still wont start. PLEASE HELP ASAP
shouldent the engine still try to turn over if theres no spark? there is nothing happening when i turn the key its the fan turning on and thats it.. and the plugs have diff lenths wires u cant confuse them
Yes, it should still try and crank. When you try to start it do the lights go dim? I cant imagine what could cause this problem unless like vtec said and your battery might be dieing.
but the battery runs all my electric; my subs gauges headlights and the headlights dont dim out when u go to start the car like acar with a dead battery would dim the headlights when u go to start it and i have never had battery troiuble

If you already know that your crank isn't turning then there is no other way to check. If your starter isn't engaging then its dead, or it is somehow not getting any power. If your power still works when your key is fully turned and you dont hear the normal whine comming from the engine then its a dead starter unless you unplugged something that you didn't need to. When you take off the valve cover all that needs to be taken off is the tube to the intake, your wires, pcv tube, and I believe just 1 ground wire. Did you disconnect anything else?
nothin i did exactly wat u just said to disconnect and reconnected it the same way.. there is no whinning when the key is turned so i am starting to think that it is a bad starter it would only seem logical, but can a started go dead in 12hrs? never had any starting problems b4.
Your starter shouldnt have died like this. I have a 96 with 165k and the original starter works perfectly. They are like 160 with the core deposit. Go buy one from autozone or somewhere like that and install it. Keep everything nice and clean so that you can return it if that doesnt solve your problem. And you didnt disconnect your batter before you took off the cover?
i dont understand if its the starter.... why its the starter. dosent make any sense to me why or how it could go bad over 12hrs.. there has to be somethin im missin i just dk what. or where to look for it now
I think if you take the positive wire off the starter and hook up the ground and positive to a battery you should get a cranking noise or a clicking noise if none of those take it to a Autozone or kragen they will test the starter for free is your engine leaking oil..I had a alternator go out because oil got in it and it happened over night..
try a different battery. it can be low and all the lights and radio and crap will work, but it won't start. make sure all the wires are connected to the battery too. my car has 2 wires going from the positive terminal, disconnect one and it won't start, but everything else will work. idk what newer integras have for electrical connections though, mine is kinda old.

check to see if the starter signal is pluged up. You were messing around there and its easy to unplug. Its the femaleconnector going to the starter solenoid. Its the black/white wire. Your starter should not have died like that. You said you took off the air intake right. You could of disconnected it.
HEY THANKS GUYS I FIGURED IT OUT. THERE IS A GROUND ON THE LEFT SIDE UNDER THE INTAKE. IT WAS DISCONNECTED FOR W.E REASON MUST OF FALLEN OFF I DIDNT TAKE IT OFF BUT THAT GROUND WAS THE ONE THAT DID IT!.. SO THANKS GUYS!
