hey i'm new to the forum. I bought this car a few weeks ago and the temp gauge stays between the half and cold mark while im driving it but if i let it idle for more than 8 min the needle starts to go above the half mark. I realized that as long as the engine is running the fans will not turn on but if i turn it off then the fans immediately switch on and runs until the temp goes down. i just had a coolant flush done and have no leaks, what could be causing this?

 

Check the fan switch on the thermostat housing. It's got a 2-wire electrical plug, you can jumper between the wires with a paperclip. Then turn on the key (no need to actually start the engine, but you have to turn it to position2 where all the idiot lights come on).

If that makes the fan run, you've just proven that everything else except the switch is OK. In that case, replace the switch.

If that doesn't make the fan run, post back...
