Pretty much no way of telling. Some people take the VIN off when they sell their motors because they dont want their VIN floating around on some random guys car or posted all over the internet. Generally though, a missing VIN means its hot....but there is no real way of proving that.
Sounds like a stolen block to me...I wouldn't buy it! That only makes thieves go and jack more stuff, because people like you are buying them

one reason i wouldnt pick it up is if it is stolen chp catches you with that you got some explain, but beyond that what if it a H-t member here stolen motor what if you were in opposite shoes....
well does it come with itr headers, or check the cams, or piston, manifold

Its just the block, no head (ie no cams, manifold, or header).

Actually, there won't be much explaining. They just seize your car and put it in impound while they investigate it. when it comes up stolen, the remove the engine for you, and then you have to pay the fees to get your car back - without the motor.
never buy a motor without a VIN. that almost guarantees its stolen.

Actually now they will confiscate your vehichle and when they confirm that the motor is stolen, they will crush your car. They dont take the motor out anymore.
