Default Which Cage is better?

Im looking for a roll cage and the two brands that im looking at are Cusco and Spoon Sports.

Does anyone know which one is probably more functional and/or safe?
One thing that i did not like about the spoon sports roll cage was the lack of a harness bar.

Which one would you go with??

I'd go with neither. Elda Engineering.

Im looking for a good cage that will increase the body rigidity and that has a harness bar, also one that is safe because i heard that the cusco is more of a show roll cage, its not as functional as the spoon sports or mugen roll cages. Im looking for at least a 6 or 7 point cage.

why a 6 or 7 point?
i have the safet21 4point with harness bar..
as far as i remember the spoon/cusco/safety21 all share the same design... remember these arent looked at as "good" here in the US because we tend to over engineer things.. these cages are used in japan in their race circuits...

if you want a "real" cage then pm me. you are not too far away. It would be worth the drive to get a custom one done that WILL pass NHRA. Crushco will NOT!!!

Cusco/Saftey21 Roll Bars are just that.
There is a huge difference between roll bars and a cage.
Cages are generally welded to the chassis and all the connecting bars are welded.

If you want something that is easily removable and don't need it to pass any type of track tech inspection then you want a roll bar.
Cusco/Safety21 is a good choice.

i probably will if i cannot find one that i am satisfied with. right now, im really considering spoon sports or mugen. I'm having really big doubts about cusco.

Any idea what the cost would be around for a custom cage??

Do you want a full cage or a roll bar. If you get a cage like mine then you will also need to get a set of seatbelts/ harness. I went with the Sparco 5 point cam lock. They are sooooo nice.

On a cage we are looking at $200 per point weld in and WILL safety from NHRA

Haha, no I think it would be pretty difficult to roll an S2k on the street, and those "Roll-over bars" won't be allowed on a track, at least not around here.

I have a feeling in the event of a rollover they are as helpful as snakes on a plane.

only thing is maybe material thickness... which i know my safety21 isnt on the thin side....

From reading the title and the above posts, it sounds as though folks still cannot distinquish a roll cage from a roll bar. :sighs:

Cusco and Safety 21 bars are not the same thing.

Cusco is for show, Safety 21 bars are more geared toward actual use. Maybe that's different for S2k's, but its true on other cars.

Japan has absolute **** safety standards, which pretty much blows a hole in that argument.
