Automatic Manual Engine swap
ok let me describe what i have and then ask the question. I have a 92 manual accord with 195k on it and the motor is on its way out. i am planing to buy a wrecked but repairable 93 automatic accord with 125k on it. is it possible to use the engine from the auto and put in my tranny from the manual? and if it is i wouldnt have to get any parts because i already have a manual car. also ive heard that to do that you would have to drill extra holes in the firewall to make some stuff fit. is that true? But if im correct it should all be plug n play for both cars becasuse the mounts are the same. am i right or wrong? thanks in advance
This is a guide to a auto-to-manual swap on a 5th Gen but it should be pretty similar.
How-To: Auto-to-5spd
Also, check out the Accord FAQ stickied at the top of the Accord forum. You may find some other helpful links.
A little while ago there was a thread discussing the auto-to-manual swap on a 4th gen. I'll see if I can find it.
edit:
ok, I found the thread. His thread on here didn't get much replies but the same user had a thread on CB7 which did get some replies. Here's the link to his thread on CB7.

Follow the links in his thread as well because I believe he has a couple other swap how-to's listed in his opening post.
Hope this is of some help to you.

so you right now have a 92 accord LX manual right??? and your going to buy another accord but its an automatic correct??
ok the engine will fit perfect cause there the ame engine BUT the only thing you have to do is remove the throttle cable that runs from the intake manifold to the auto tranny cause your not going to use that and this is the main part when you remove the auto tranny from the engine TAKE out the auto tranny flywheel cause you wont be needing that there gonna be the big flywheel and a small one take both of those out and then install your Manual flywheel in place DONT use the auto tranny flywheel bolts cause they are to short other than that let me know if you need help with anything else im pretty familiar with this since i did the auto to manual swap a few months back
