does it do it when its been sitting still for a while? (at idle) my silver one will do this. like at a drive thru it will raise temp after while. i think its my fan switch. but never fully fixed it. but if its doing it like when you 1st start the car cold then i would say its a issue with the gauge not the car.

yeah itll go back down b/c the car is off. cooling down a lil. let the car idle and check that your fan kicks on. if it dosent get a new fan switch. how long has it been since u changed/checked coolant levels?

Every car heats up after you turn it off. When you have the car running, the coolant is circulating. It absorbs the heat in the engine on its route back to the radiator. When you shut your car off, that coolant just heats up more and more. When you turn your car back on and it starts circulating again, the temperature is naturally going to read higher.

Now, if it's near overheating, you have a problem. I'd check the coolant level. Check the color, too. Make sure that your engine is healthy. When was the last time the thermostat was changed?
