need help with my temperature
i have a 93 prelude si and the coolant temperature gauge or watevr on my dash sumtimes shows the temp rising above half when i start it again after its been running for a while .....i dunno wats up sumtimes its at half which its were it should be but sumtimes it shows that its about to overheat....could it be the fan????
does it do it when its been sitting still for a while? (at idle) my silver one will do this. like at a drive thru it will raise temp after while. i think its my fan switch. but never fully fixed it. but if its doing it like when you 1st start the car cold then i would say its a issue with the gauge not the car.
well iv only noticed it after i leave the car running for a while turn it off and then turn it back on it does it at idle and i think when i rev it also but then i turn it off and on again it gos back to normal
yeah itll go back down b/c the car is off. cooling down a lil. let the car idle and check that your fan kicks on. if it dosent get a new fan switch. how long has it been since u changed/checked coolant levels?
well honestly i havent checked at idle but i no it does kick on as soon as i turn it off....but my friend said he herd it on at idle im not sure though ill have to check.....hummm well honestly i havent last time i checked the coolant level was good
Every car heats up after you turn it off. When you have the car running, the coolant is circulating. It absorbs the heat in the engine on its route back to the radiator. When you shut your car off, that coolant just heats up more and more. When you turn your car back on and it starts circulating again, the temperature is naturally going to read higher.
Now, if it's near overheating, you have a problem. I'd check the coolant level. Check the color, too. Make sure that your engine is healthy. When was the last time the thermostat was changed?
