All who have experience with the Kicker L7
I have a 8" Kicker L7.I down sized mostly to keep the weight down in my hatch. I've owned two other 10" Solo-barics (Round) Got my first one, in the first few monthes the Solo-Baric was released.Haven't owned another style sub since. But the square one is different for me. My first two were used in my standard cab truck in a sealed enclosure. Now I have a hatch and more room to munipulate. Also I know have the option of venting my box.I've grown away from just blasting it loud.I want clean, tight bass with quality sound. Which style enclosure can I achieve this from or does it truely matter?Sealed or ported enclosure. Also, If this helps I running 300 watts RMS@ 2ohms from a Kenwood amp. I was told certain subs in specific enclosures perform better and require more power. So hope fully this will help some one to help me in my quest for ultimate sound.
Thanks-HC4G
Ps- the sub is here to stay, so please don't recommend buying another sub!

I'm not up-to-date with the power handling of the s8L7. But I would still go ported. Since it's only an 8, the ported box won't be that big anyway. They sound a lot better, IMO, in ported boxes. I've owned a 15L7 and a 12L7 and in both cases, I would not have down anyting but ported....
If you want to get possible box design help, you might want to try the forum on http://www.sounddomain.com . There are a lot of guys who are much more experienced with L7's there and one of the Mods is a Kicker employee I believe...
