Wheel and tire Question
Got some te37 16x8 recently and want to know if a 215/40/16 falken will fit. Wheel has a +38 offset. Car does not have coil overs; has tokico shocks and is lowered about 1 inch. Will there be rubbing?
The tires will fit on the wheels yes. Why wouldnt you run 215/45-16s though? They are closer to stock diameter.
I suspect youd have to roll your fenders and/or alter the rear control arms to not rub. PM user Todd00, he used to have 16x8 TE37s.

For 16" wheels, most folks get 16x7, and can use either 205/45-16 or 215/45-16 on an ITR. If the offset is correct - I'm not sure about that part - then either size should work fine without rubbing or rolling.
The tire size you mentioned, 215/40-16, is too small in diameter for an ITR. On a 16x8 wheel, stick with 215/45-16. (205/45 is only approved for rims 6.5-7.5 inches wide.) If you want a tire with the maximum dry traction, get the Falken Azenis RT-615 in that size. If you want a tire that has decent dry traction, is very good in rain, and lasts a lot longer, then get the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 in that size.
