Default quick question on tire sizes for hx's

i have a 92 hatch with hx's with 185/60/14 tire size and the tires are shot so i'm in the market for new ones.

i want to get 2 azenis and 2 potenza to use. my friend has a set of 4 tires bridgestone potenza 195/65/14 that he's not going to use becuase just got stolen so he's giving them to me for dirt cheap. and they only make azenis in 195/60/14. i was wondering will those tires size affect anything at all. car will be daily driven with the potenza in the rear and the azenis in the front i just want to make sure i'll be ok. thanks.

The bridgestones will be pretty big but the azenis will be the closest to what you need. As long as you're not TOO low, they you should be fine.

I would absolutely NOT recommend mixing the Bridgestone Potenza with the Falken Azenis. The two tires are dramatically different in performance; the Azenis will stick much better on dry pavement, and the Potenza will stick much better on wet pavement. With the Azenis in the front, your car will have horrible oversteer on dry pavement, with the back end wanting to come around, and then if it's raining or if you hit a puddle, the car will understeer with the car plowing straight ahead when you turn the wheel. Very UNsafe. Don't do it.

As for the tires, 195/65-14 is MUCH too big for your car, will probably rub and will throw the speedometer off by almost 6 percent.

Get a set of four matching tires that fit your car. The best size is 185/60-14, but 195/55-14 will also work. Two decent tires in those sizes are the Yokohama ES100 in 185/60-14 ($72), and the Toyo T1-R in 195/55-14 ($70). If you need to also use the same tires in snow in the winter, you'll need all-seasons, in which case get the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS in 185/60-14 ($65).

The Yokohama ES100 and Toyo T1-R mentioned above are the only 14" tires meeting that description.

There are a lot more choices, and less expensive, for 15" and larger wheels.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...
