This will be your best and only engine swap option.

88-91 H22 Swap Info : https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1860111

As for Turbo Chargining this info will be your best resource:

I've seen this done. Stock B20A with a B16A head.
It's possible, but it's not that easy to do.
So, I'd agree that your best bet would be an H22 swap.

I am sorry I forgot to mention that there was a B16, B18 swap done on this generation of car, but the engine was too tall and you will not be able to drop the car due to the height of the engine.

As far as swapping the B16 head or B18 head on the the B20A5 block, it was done but with not success, too much custom work to make it work and the trying to work the bugs out was impossible.

Just stick with Turbo Charging or H22 swap.

No one ever thinks of the JDM B20A. It's not great, but it's better than a USDM B20Ax

JDM B20A is fine if you just want to replace a dead motor. JDM B20A swap is pointless as it will only yield a couple more hp (if that). And aftermarket support for that motor is not that great.

B20A's are also decent for turbo build-up's but after all is said and done the H22A swap will make the car just as fast, more reliable, and you'll have plenty of aftermarket parts to choose from. H22A swap FTW.

That would end-up costing you a lot more than what you would pay for the H22 swap.
I'd rather go with the H22 and some bolt-on's.

Anything is possible, but it all depends on how many pesos you're willing to spend and what you plan to use the car for.

Yes there is aftermarket pistons and rods. We use the same brand as any other Bseries motors you just have to have them made specifically for the B20A5 motor and not he B20A accord motor.
There are some differences so you will need to make that clear when ordering a set from the manufacture or retail shop you are getting them from.

No. The B20B engine will not fit properly, there is a guy in europe who made it go in but he is still trying to make it work.

Here is the info on that swap:

Here is the link to that specific thread:

B20B in the works

Due to hood clearance he tilted the engine foward. I see this as a problem down the road but for all 3rd gens sake I hope it works out.

No.

I've had a 3rd gen and gave up on the B20A5... You'd have to spend an arm and a leg to get some decent power out of it. I wouldn't mess with that motor ever again, and that's my honest opinion. It's just not worth the money, the time, the sweat...

Oh come on... This engine has alot of potential once boosted. It comes stock with iron sleeves, which means you dont have to sleeve the block, just reinforce all the other internals depending on the amount of boost you want to run.

Alot of us owners of the 3rd gen know that it does take money, time and effort to make this car the way it should be, but that is what makes it so special after all is said and done.

No trying to put down other Honda owners, but this car is well worth the the effort once she has been rebuilt and upgraded.

there is a ton of aftermarket support for a b20a5 motor....you just have to look in the rite places....

it's all about what kind of hp you looking for and if you want a reliable car.
do you want a turbo tuned car?
or a all motor tuned car?\

chioce is yours.
