Default How to sandblast Volks??

I have a set of silber CE28. And i want to powdercoat them. A friend of mine wanted to sandblast them but he told me that the coating is so strong that he is not able to remove it.

What is his mistake?

Anybody have a answer?

Greetings from germany ;-)

I'd try aircraft stripper first. It's not abrasive and you have no chance of harming the alumminum. I have some Rays that stripped just fine. If it works cool, if not, find a different way. Sandblasting seem a bit harsh to me though. It's going to leave them pretty rough.

I used aircraft stripper and it worked pretty well, but it didnt remove everything completely, so i just sandblasted them after that. All i would reccomend is when sandblasting them i would watch the distance and time held in one spot on the wheel, sandblasting tends to pit aluminum

don't sandblast them... it will impact the surface too much... have them bead blasted (or stripped and bead blasted)... it will be perfect to powdercoat.
