Transmission oil filler plug mod
might work , i just pull the plug and use a piece of 3/8 hose and fit it on the vent on top of the trans and just squeeze... the older trans (i think) have a larger tube so just take a piece of 5/8 hose (2-3") put it on the trans then take the 3/8 hose and put it inside the 5/8 ... ive done it on both types a worked good.. no laying down oil running everywhere...
that might be hard to check the level with the tube through it??????

What’s the point, fill it to the proper level the first time, the oil isn’t going anywhere, unless your leaking and you will know when you see drips on the concrete

Someone has never had axle problems, clutch problems, and probably hasn't done many swaps...

That's what I do too. I pull the plug on the side to vent it, throw a hose on the vent on top of the case, and throw a funnel in the hose. pour in the needed oil, crank the plug on the side loose, pull the hose.

Wouldn't you over flow it since its higher then the fill plug bolt ? Sure some people remove the fill plug bolt and then fill from the vss, but why ? Its not that hard to use a funnel with a big straw on the end
As for the original idea, I don't think its a good idea and here is why. If you are leaking fluids, or have an issue then you infact know that the fluid is going to be to low. Now if you wanted to make a fill drain tube so you could add fluid every now and then with out jacking up the car and what not, that would be a better idea.

The easiest way would be to add a indicator tube like you see on some catch cans. I have right next to me swivel fittings with 10-32 threads and 1/8" tube slip compression fittings. I would advise against it though, as I wouldn't want to add any holes to the casing, since its the only reinforcement the tranny gets, and stressed cast aluminum loves to crack at holes.
In the plug you could put a straight 10-32 to barb or to slip fit to get w/in 3/8" of the level, then seal & ziptie a longer tube to view the level & fill it up. Get another of those fittings into the corner of a small bucket, and let it slowly drizzle in while you do something else. If it overfills, pinch the hose, disconnect, and let it drain into an empty mtf bottle.

Why don't you just pull the vss out and the filler plug. Fill it through the vss hole and when it comes out the filler plug it is full. Not that hard to do.
