hey whats up im planning to pick up this set up from a friend.

i drive a DA 90-93 integra.

kyb gr2-brand new
ebay coilover-brand new
2 inch extended oem top hats-custom
front camber kit- pretty new


my current set up is dropzone lowering springs on stock struts and no camber kit. and it rides like **** hella bouncy. lowered about 2.5-3.0 . so too all you folks that are thinking of putting on a set of dropzone lowering springs on your car with stock shocks. please please dont. i got them installed last night and gonna go back to stock today.folks were right do it right the first time or don't do it at all.


im wandering what you guys think of my set up its gonna run me 270 for a ghetto rigged full coilover system from a friend for everything. i know it isn't the best set up but since i can get the extended top hats i'm wandering if it would make a big difference. i got a friend extending them for me for a low price. i don't have the extra 200-250 to fork out for a set of ground controls btw.

stay away, you think your setup is bouncy now you will hate that setup, those coilovers will be so much mroe stiff than the springs and gr-2's are basically stock shocks that can handle no drop for long.

don't do it, save a bit more and look for a decent used setup

 

but top hats are extended 2 inche which should make up for loss during drop. only planning to drop 2 inches , and im good off lowering springs cause there a bitch to get on.

 

even if the drop is cancelled out the spring rates are too high for the shocks, so the springs will be controlling the shocks rather than the other way around. they will still blow and if not, the ebay coilovers will sag and are going to ride badly anyway

 

save youre money and get something better. kyb gr2 is gona be bouncy. if you want a good ride spend a little more or you'll just keep purchasing new things. i would recommend kyb agx with some ground controls.

 

Instead of "ghettoing" it up, save up until you can get something that is guaranteed to give you a quality ride.

My 2 cents.

Get your buddies kyb's for real cheap, (unless they are shot) and buy an eibach pro kit (~$200 new). better than "270 for a ghetto rigged full coilover system"

At least the car will handle pretty well and not bounce. Maybe then, when you have some money, you will just replace the struts (with a quality unit) and have a great handling car or go lower the right way..or realize that banging stuff off the ground and bouncing down the road, aint the way to go. Suspension is about handling, not picking up chicks or looking hard for the crew. Or is it?

after going through cheap kits and now having a good quality setup, i say stay away from the garbage and just get some better suspension, I just got F2's for 698 shipped, they are great

 

or you can buy your friends gr2 and buy my eibach sportlines

 

yea im pickin the gr2's for 150 so thats cool brand new. save a few bucks. deng i was just looking for something better then my dropzone on stock struts haha.

 

how about using the ebay coilovers for 2-3 months then upgrading to skunk 2 or groundcontrol. when i make the money. eibach pro isnt that a lowering spring.

 

dropzone may be **** but how much better can you expect no name ebay coilovers to be? if anything, but those gr-2's and get a set of megan coilovers, they are like around 100 shipped

yur friend is hosing you on price, at most teh shocks cost 175 and no ebay coilovers cost 95 or 100

 

i wouldnt buy ebay coilovers, or even use it if i got it for free

 

I would look for some used koni reds, and get a new Sportline kit(made by eibach) its a good 2" drop, and the koni reds respond to drop fairly well. but, if you like your car dumped, get reds with skunk2 race springs, they are like 2.5"drop or so.

150 for the shocks 25 for the coilovers both brand new, front camber kit 25 and 75 for the extended top hats is the deal . whats a cheap but decent coilover other then ebay. that go for like 100. GC i see some for 150 on g2ic once in awhile. peacee

lowering springs are out cause it takes so dam long to get those on. even with the autozone springs compressors which barely fit.

 

lowering springs would be alot better for those shocks than any coilovers but if you are set on coilovers, i would suggest these and then you can still upgrade the shocks later

you talk about doing it right the first time, yet you're willing to waste your money on another bs suspension setup.

 

buy my eibach sportlines lowering springs for 100.

 

the setup i have on my dc is Tokico Illuminas and Neuspeed Race springs. The drop is 2.0F and 1.75R. The ride quality is very nice. I spent alittle over 500 on the setup.

lol waste of money, if you want coilovers so bad just save up some cash and buy a true coilover setup. omnipower has great kits starting around 550
