Default Drive wheel question

I have a 1997 civic ex coupe with manual trasmission and a (stock) D16Y8 engine.

I have a question, which wheel is the drive wheel?? I thought it was the front left, but one time a kid wanted to see me do a small (1-2 sec) burnout, so I did. People on both sides of the car said that they saw the both of the front wheels spinning at high speed, like they were burning out. Is this possible?? BTW, I havent installed any LSD or anything.

umm.... actually it's the right rear wheel....

j/k

Neither wheel is "THE" drive wheel. With an open differential, the wheel with the least amount of stress/traction is going to spin (that's why your inside front tire spins when you hit the gas mid turn). That doesn't mean that you'll never have both tires spinning. As long as the traction is fairly consistent between the two, you won't have a problem. As you found out, it's possible to get both to spin. If you go to a dragstrip, watch how people do burnouts. The smart ones turn the wheels to make sure both tires spin and heat up. Does this make sense???

Thanks, I wasnt sure how an open diff worked, and my brother (who only really knows old car and not much about FWD) said that w/o Limited slip, i would just have 1 drive wheel. Thanks for the quick, no bullshit, reply!!
