Drivetrain Issue
Hey guys,
This is my first post here. I bought an 88 CRX DX about 2 months ago and have been working my butt off on this car. Its "stock" and I am having a problem with the drivetrain...I think. It sounds exactly like I have truck tires on the thing. When I get up to 25-30 MPH, I hear Wo, Wo, Wo, Wo, Wo down the road and the steering wheel shakes quite a bit. When I turn the wheel a little bit, the sound changes. The guy I bought it from had some crappy tires on there and seemed to think that is where the sound was coming from. I bought some new rims and tires and the sound is still there.
I have replaced both front axles, tie rod end links, lower ball joints, calipers, rotors, pads, and the axle seal on pass side. I took it for an alignment and they corrected the toe. The Castor and Camber are a bit out of spec, but nothing alarming.
What do you think this could be? Sometimes the steering seems "twitchy" but this sound is killing me. You think this is a transmission issue? This is a project car, so I am trying to stay away from the mechanics. Any help on this would be great!
Thanks

Hey, thanks for the reply. Is there a good way to "check" these? I had them both out when I replaced the rear drums. They were a bit rusty. Is checking the rear the same as the front? Lift the wheel, grab the top and bottom looking for a wobble?
Yep, the rear passanger has a little bit of play in it. Not much, but its there. I do notice that my shoes are rubbing just a little bit when I spin the wheels. One side a little worse then the other. Will that work itself out, or should I adjust them again? I remember having a terrible time adjusting them so the parking brake would work. I guess I will try a new rear bearing.

spin the wheel on the jackstand and see how smooth it spins as well.
