Default Built my first Turbo Manifold!

I've been workin really hard on this for the last few days, i couldn't afford the full-race one that i origionaly wanted so i figured i'd give it the best shot that i could & see what i could build. It's all tacked together & i just need to pull each runner off & weld them solid. Lemme know what you think, i'm open for some constructive criticism as this was my first time.

Thanks to all that post pictures of your work on here, i got most of my ideas from browsing this fab forum.

It was a real pain getting the first runner lined up to place the collector in the correct spot and still leave clearance for everything else, but once that one was done the others just came together rather easily.

That's a pretty good effort. Looks like it'll turn out for you without question. It'll definitely work for your needs, and plus be cost effective.

My only criticism is the really cramped collector for a manifold that ideally will flow very well. There is also one misaligned runner I see [horizontal straight piece on #4 runner], but overall I will say your fitment looks pretty good. #1 runner looks to have a slight kink approaching the collector as well maybe you could straighten out.

Overall though I think it's a nice piece and should serve your needs well.

EDIT: O.P. you posted right above me "no replies" right as I was typing this reply. I think you get less replies on manifolds because some people tend to cringe when another guy building a manifold shows himself. Especially when the first mani he builds is a top mount. Don't take it personal.

Never tried to build one, so my opinion is moot.

That looks very good, I hope my first one is that good. Any tips for a newbie? I'm sure you learned a lot that I could benefit from.

OMG Number Muncher avatar FTW!

Looks good for a 1st manifold. Going to TIG or MIG it? The only reason I haven't tried is I can't quite figure the sequence of welding, as its kinda hard to weld when a torch doesn't fit in the space.

You may need an extreme low profile or pencil style torch.

I pulled each of the runners & mig'd them, then i only had to worry about the collector & the head flange, welding around the collector was no big deal till the last pipe & u just have to work at it. The head flange gave me plenty of space so that wasn't a problem. I'll have to take some more pix of it.

I own a powder coating / ceramic coating shop, so my plans are to ceramic coat the hot side of the turbo, my manifold, and my downpipe. I'll try & post up pictures once it's coated as well (probly won't coat it for another couple weeks tho).

looks really good for your first one. unless you have built one it is hard to fully appreciate custom manifolds
