Crutchfield recommends me a good system?
I spoke with a Crutchfield rep asking for a system (deck + speakers) for my car to replace my stock stereo.
She recommended me:
Kenwood DPX-301 CD Receiver
Boston Acoustics S95 6" x 9" 2-way Speakers for the rear deck
Boston Acoustics S65RC 6-1/2" 2-way Speakers Shallow Mount for the front door speakers
4-sheets of Dynamat (10in x 10in)
Total: $530
Is there anything wrong with it? My main concern is the battery. I dont want to see my lights dim or have the battery die on me if I turn the engine off for 2 secs while my radio is on. She told me I wont need an amp or a new battery. She also told me that the amount of Dynamat was sufficient. If it needs to cover the whole rear deck and the front 2 door panels I highly doubt that. I mean I never did this before and I could be wrong.
2001 Honda Accord
V6 Sedan EX
Comes with 2 front and 2 back speakers.
The system is meant for enjoyment and not competition.

The price is pretty good as is the equipment, although it is a butt ugly HU IMO.
One big advantage you have is, Crutchfield is an authorized dealer of the products they sell you you do get full manufacturers warranty.
Also the advice you got was good, the product will fit your car without mods.

I went for a quick search and found out that the HU she recommended me is the cheapest double DIN they had. The otheer ones are mostly $100+ and thats just too much.
I heard that Hondas require a crimping/wire kit. True or not?
Also, are the speakers loud enough to require dynamat?

All makes of cars require a wire harness kit IF you don't want to cut the stock wiring. A couple of reasons: In case you wish to sell the car and reinstall the stock stereo, and it's easier and less of a hassle to wire the adapter to the new HU while it is out of the car, as opposed to sitting in the car splicing into the stock wiring.
If you don't mind cutting the stock wiring, then you don't need the wiring harness adapter. Just be sure to match up the stock wiring and HU wiring correctly.

You get a free adapter harness from Crutchfield, like this... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HA08B correct?
If so, you will need to connect it to the Kenwoods harness, then you just plug it into the cars OEM harness.
If not, get one, or better yet, if you have to get one, get one of these... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...EN16B no crimping/connecting.
Using Dynamat really has nothing to do with how "loud" the speakers are, it is used to "dampen" the "vibration" of the metal around and behind the speakers, EG; for the doors you would remove the OEM speaker housings apply a sheet of Dynamat over the opening, cut out the part over the opening itself and apply it to the door skin directly behind the speaker, reinstall the housing and mount the speaker, and if you really want to make it easy get some of these... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HA02B keep in mind pricing is in CDN $, that would make the whole install plug and play, and right back to stock if you decide to remove the system.

Just checked my cart again and yeah, the rep put in the speaker harnesses and HU harness for free... FREE! These guys are great.
So I guess I am set. Is there anything I else I should be worried about?
