Default more power, less money

what are the best engine mods i can bolt onto my 99 civic dx d16y7 to get more power? already have a cold air intake and an axel back exhaust, soon to be getting headers and underdrive pulleys. i've seen websites say that upgrading the ignition components and fuel delivery systems are necessary but i think they might be just going for the sale. turbo and nitrous is out because i cant spend that much money. just want simple bolt on mods that can get me more hp. i've been considering:
Intake Manifold
Throttle Body
Throttle Body Spacer
Iridium Spark Plugs/Wires
High Flow Fuel Rail
Ignition System
Fuel Injectors

if some one could help me out by telling me which of these are worth the money and suggest any others, i would greatly appreciate it.

Even with IM/TB you won't really see any big gains. Honestly, I'd just save up for a Y8 swap or something better. Then turbo or build it for N/A, depending on whatever route you'd rather go.

bolt on's, no matter what they are, arent going to give you any kind of noticeable hp gains especially with that engine.

mini-me swap.

Just FYI, D series motors suck for naturally aspired hp.

Honestly. For your money. Change the tranny. One from an EX/Si.

Or to get any real power. The ones you listed will be lacking. Piece together a turbo kit. I know you say it is out of the question but think about it. All of that stuff listed won't do isht.

Your ignition is fine. The fuel rail is good to like 400hp. If you want to get down to it the fuel injectors, IM, throttlebody are putting you on your way to that turbo kit you could slowly put together.

The pulleys and the header you just bought...ran how much? That stuff will gain you less hp than you can count on both of your hands. Just a thought.

PS: Your problem is the one that's been plaguing Civic owners since '92.

No way around it, you want a strong motor, you need FI. Or you can drop an assload of cash on a NA D-series build, probably run 160whp max, and only use it at the track :-\.

There is no MORE power for LESS money unless you boost. Simple as that.

I wish there was another way, so do 1000's of other pple, but there isn't.

Welcome to the world of 4 bangers.

when you say piece together a turbo kit what exactly do you mean? i did recently consider a turbo kit until i discovered the cost of the kit and installation and computer recalibration would run as high as $5500. If i had that kind of money i would buy a whole new car. if you have a lower cost alternative please let me know. (can't possibly install it myself)

can run AS HIGH AS $5500

Do your research home made turbo kit... meaning get the pieces yourself... you can put a decent one together for as low as $600. Depending which way you go you can buy emanage or you can obd1 convert and hondata or crome or uberdata so you can turbo if you do your homework for as low as $1300 tuned i'd say? $2000 I'd say you can get a pre assembled turbo kit and get a decent tune done.

hell dood it can cost 239847238904723 dollars if u pay for it. if your just getting your feet wet into the turbo seen your going to be ran back about 1500, which isnt that bad. you could piece a very nice kit together with that money or you can buy a small greddy kit that will have everything u need.(going to need to swap out your IM though or do a customization with one pipe so it will fit on the Y7 IM) other than that it comes with directions and the whole she bang and more than likely be able to beat b-series motors, with a stock greddy kit. but its the only thing u can do for that motor. http://www.turbod16.com and
http://www.homemadeturbo.com those websites should help

p.s. either or your going to need to do a bit of research but it should be worth it in the end.

$1300 tuned and ready to drive? you've got to help me out on taking this route. do your homework doesn't help, that's why i'm posting here, this is my homework. if you could elaborate more on how to get a functional turbo onto my car for $1300 i'd appreciate it.

Yeah that's basically it.

For 1500 or so you could buy the parts for a very nice turbo kit.

The tune is separate, though some pple street tune and are fine.

nit. is ok but, a car/motor should be built around nit. a car with just a shot of nit is still slow besides that. but a motor built around nit. could be a different story.

Boost is still your best bet for all around power.

I myself have never used any of their products, but almost every month someone makes a new thread saying something bad about their products/service. do a search for "ssautochrome" and the first top 10 are "warning" threads lol

Used turbos, wastegates, intercoolers are usually fine. Junkyard turbo D ftw.
